Exetel Home Phone & Broadband Internet Connection

Hi guys,

Looking to switch my home phone and broadband internet services to Exetel.

They said that a $99.99 up-front activation cost will apply. Anyone know a way to get this price lowered via a discount coupon code or something? As this cost is the only thing holding me back from switching to Exetel.

Thanks for your help!

Update 1: after talking to their sales team over the phone, they did a line/address check and said that a new line will need to be installed. And that my TPG phone number cannot be transferred. My understanding is that I know TPG uses a PBX service where they assign their customers a DID/SIP number (aka a land line number). So with that said, I think I will stick with TPG and save my self the hassle of getting a new land line phone number for incoming calls.

PS. found TPG to be excellent with their network quality, speed and no unseen downtime/outages affecting my area yet!

Only reason I wanted to change to Exetel was because it initially worked out to be the same cost as TPG but with Exetel there was no time for data usage ie. it was 100gb per month where as with TPG it's 50gb on peak/50gb off-peak.

  • Call them and ask for a discount or them to possibly waive the fee all together.
Iprimus waived a 299 call out technician fee for me im sure they would be able to do something like that to gain you as a customer.
    Can only try.

    • Oh wow, cool. Yeah I'll give it a go and see what happens!

    • Good luck with that in the case of Exetel, they didn't show any interest in having a new customer at all when I tried. If somebody gets lucky, let me know who you spoke to please!!

  • Good luck, i asked for a discount on the activation fee for my friend who is a disability pensioner soon after they had the free signup offer a while back. They refused stating that their wholesaler sets the price not them.

    • Yeah, they said the same thing to me over the phone conversation.

  • Try Spintel - free connection offer at the moment.

    • Only if on 24month contract though.. (for regional that is)

  • I'm thinking of switching to exetel from tpg. $10 less a month.

    • Yes but beware of the churn/change-over fee's and the up-front line activation cost's for Exetel. This is what made me stay with TPG, and ultimately TPG pricing worked out cheaper,

      • You're right, I think it was $59. After 6 months I would break even, but I'm kind of holding off in hopes they have a promo or something.

        • +1

Yeah I did ask for what deals and discounts they could offer to new customers willing to sign-up for a 12 month ADSL 2+ & Home-phone connection. They couldn't do anything they said on the phone conversation. So I'm sticking with my $49.99/month plan with TPG which gets me 100GB (50gb off/50gb on peak) ADSL 2+ broadband internet & home-phone connection.

        • @PLA74: that's the same plan as me! It's good but I was thinking of upgrading to the bigger exetel plan for the same price (netflix = data hungry)

Thanks for the feedback re the phone call. I'll decide whether to switch when I get my act together…

        • @Chik5555: for an extra $10 per month, you can get the unlimited internet plan at $59.99 per month. Which I'm high considering moving to. Internet data usage is going up a lot in my household lol.

  • I have just looked at the new Exetel prices and they are TERRIBLE!! I signed up with exetel about 8 months ago and am currently on their 500GB plan with line rental (regional location) and costs me $69/mth.. Their current plan goes from 100GB to 1TB… No more middle ground???

The 100GB is 50GB off peak and 50GB peak! And it costs more than what I am currently on!

There has to be far better deals than that out there!
