Elder Scrolls Online - Copy PC account to console for $15

So I got a message yesterday from Bethesda saying that I am eligable to copy my PC account to either Xbox or Ps4 for the price on $15usd, which includes a digital copy of eso.

So I read up and this is eligible to people who registered for eso before 30 June 2014, and you have 30 days to pay and copy your account, otherwise you miss out.

So my question is, I'd keep my PC account, plus ill get a copy on a console with my exact account, but what about progress on either account. Do they both sync with each other or will they be seperate? I'd love to have to choice of going casual and doing normal quest laying down in bed on my Ps4, but when I'm doing dungeons I'd much rather the PC version.

I'm sure someone could find a way to exploit that system if they did it, but that's how I'd like it. Play on both systems with the same progress from each session.

What are your thoughts?

  • Probably better asked (and answered) on the ESO forums, but…

So my question is, I'd keep my PC account, plus ill get a copy on a console with my exact account, but what about progress on either account. Do they both sync with each other or will they be seperate?

The PC/Mac servers, PS4 servers, and Xbox servers are isolated from each other. Your account gets copied to the console-of-choice servers, and from that point forward character progression is forked - no syncing.

It is explained in the ESO Support articles:

The PC/Mac originals and the console copies are, for all intents and purposes, separate. This means that players can go back and continue to play on their PC account if they so wish.1

    and,

This offer will simply take an exact copy of your PC / Mac account and replicate it. From the point of the transfer, the original PC / Mac account will remain 'as is', whilst the new console account will be 100 percent separate. Progress made on one account will not affect the progress made on the other account.2

    • Ah It didn't even phase me to go into the ESO forums :?

Thanks for all the info :) Greatly appreciated!

No offense - sorry to sound like a fanboy, but I don't understand why someone would want to move from PC to Console. Is there something better that the Console version offers if you already have it on PC?

    • It depends on what mood I'm in. Some days I don't feel like being on the PC, can't get in the mood to play a game, so I lay down and watch tv shows/movies, play something on the console while I relax. Also using the controller is more simple and relaxed.

Though I havn't touch my PS4 in a long time, since Assassin's Creed Black Flag. I do watch Netflix on it now :)

      • Sorry to hark on this, but could you connect your PC to your TV/controller in Big Picture Mode?

Or maybe you have them in separate rooms?

You already have a PS4 now though so too late to change to a PC to share games. Just pay your $15 an enjoy.

        • As someone who has only recently gone to PC, I can sympathize with the console peasants (I'm sorry, I had to do it). I think the biggest drive for getting a console, and of course playing a game on a console should be the exclusive games that it has. Playing an MMO is obscenely bizarre for a console game, and the subscription model doesn't fit on the platform, so why anyone would get this on PS4 (Or at all http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/the-elder-scrolls-online) is officially beyond me. Plug a controller in and hook the pc to the TV and you can lay down all you want, or just play a PS4 game like Bloodborne or….. Nope, that's all the PS4 exclusives that come to mind.

"Though I havn't touched my PS4 in a long time, since Assassin's Creed Black Flag". This is a sentence that is familiar to me, as I've heard from 9/10 of the next gen console owners I know (The only thing you'll see related to next gen consoles that get a 9/10). And naturally, the one game you mentioned wasn't even a next gen exclusive game. RIP games industry.
