Sony BDPS1200 Vs BDPS3200 Blu-Ray Player

I just bought a SONY 50" (127cm) Full HD Smart LED TV KDL50W700B (http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/sony-50-127cm-full-high-defi…)

and am wondering which blu ray player to buy. Naturally, I'm leaning towards the cheaper one. So what's the main difference between the two? Is the Smart one worth the extra $40?

There are better prices around for the BDPS3200 (Good Guys at $114, both VideoPro and DSE have had it at $99 in the past) and it is generally a better buy, depending on your usage.

Differences are DLNA & wifi. If you have ethernet near your TV, and no plans to use DLNA or anything connected at all, you could save the $15 and go 1200 (or even new 1500) but personally I shopped around and bought the 3200.

A handy upgrade to my old BDP-S370, even if it has less hardware connections.

    • Thanks for that
What exactly is the wifi feature used for? Will it enable me to watch the dvd thats playing on tv on my ipad? Or is it just used for netflix?

      • Network allows the bluray player to receive content (online or local) but this is not a server. Will allow you to cast from various devices to your TV screen, but I guess you new TV probably does all the smart stuff you need. If so, probably only will need the network for firmware update for your BDP, so can probably get away with the cheepie - as per below $59 at HN.

BDPs1200 I think is being advertised at HN for $58 but not showing on the website. The advertisement only said it was a Sony bluray player so I'd assume that was for the low end model.

    Sorry, it's up now but it's $59
