Which Rewards Card Should I Keep for Everyday Usage?

Hi all,

Just wondering if some people can give suggestions of what's the best way to go for a rewards credit card?

I've taken advantage of some of the recent offers with Qantas points and ANZ rewards points, with the intention to cancel the cards after I receive the bonus points and before any annual fees.
But I've been been thinking about using one for everyday usage - because if I'm going to be paying via card anyway as I usually do, may as well get points for something right?

So the question is: what rewards scheme should I go for and why? Which one gives best value? What have other OzBargainers done?
My biggest weekly cost (after rent - anyone know of any rewards schemes for that?!) is food/groceries and I mainly shop at Coles or Woolies. Should I therefore go for a card that gives flybuys points/vouchers for one or both of those?

I currently have ANZ Rewards, and NAB Qantas and had ANZ Qantas but I'm a mercenary when it comes to banks - I just go for the cheapest ;)
Most of my other banking is with NAB, so that would make managing things easier, but the range of option on ANZ Rewards (vouchers, virgin points, goods) is appealing.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Most of these rewards programs will reap points worth 1% of your spending or less.

At least ING Direct Orange Everyday gives you 2% back instant cash for paywave.

  • Ing is the best as you get 2% back, unless you are earning a high income and can get a high level credit card with no annual fee then you may earn 1.5% back
