What's the best affordable ergonomic chair around?

Hey guys. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for an affordable ergonomic chair for use at home? I bought some kind of leather chair from officeworks 1-2 years ago, and the cushion is now flat, with metal bits almost poking through the leather from extended use. It's terribly uncomfortable.

If possible, I would like a chair with a mesh back and mesh or plastic seat. Leather would be okay if it didn't squash so quickly, and I definitely do not want any fabric in the chair. I don't mind whether there are or are not armrests.

Please help! Thanks in advance :)

i'm not a snob like people who love their $1k+ miller aerons but I reckon $200 isnt gonna cut it

all those milan direct (kogan?) officeworks ikea cheap shit is just cheap shit

    • haha I'm sort of a chair noob. Definitely agree with your comment about the quality of OW/ikea.
How much would you say I should be looking to spend?

    • It's crazy that even after a decade has passed, Aerons are still around $1k :(

and yeah, I paid quite a lot for mojo direct/milan direct, but somehow I think it's fairly pricey for the kind of chair you get….

  • Ebay and Gumtree offer commercial quality seats second hand sourced from businesses that have upgraded/gone bust.
One I got for $25, another for $2! I like the Formway brand. These are traditional foam/cloth upholstery chairs, but with ergo tilt, lift and lumbar adjustments.

  • Hope I'm not chiming in too late given that this has been a month.

I am extremely happy with my Ikea Markus chair. It retails for $399, but I got a second hand one off Gumtree for $170 about a year ago.

It's mesh backed, which is nice in the warmer months in QLD, it's comfortable and reclines smoothly and has lumbar support. Some people had been complaining that the support is a bit much and uncomfortable, but it suits me just fine. Definitely one of my better purchases.
