Problems with DSE Click and Collect Transactions?

Has anyone else had problems with DSE click and collect transactions? Also you might have some advice for me. Thanks

So i took up the friday 1 day deals online to save a few $. Bought a Sony 40" Tv and a few other items. All available from George St store or Sydney Plaza, chose George St. Only thing is i have to wait 24 hours before collection. So no worries i go in 24 hours later to collect items. But Tv is no longer in stock. Store rep calls over the road but no luck there either.

Suggests i contact the online department and see what they can do. I ring them but they are a monday-friday 9-5 operation so i have to wait till Monday. They dont have an email address on their site but they do have a contact form so i send a request for a follow up to see when i can collect my Tv. No response by Monday lunchtime so i call them and am told they will call me back. Meanwhile i go into the George st store and ask another rep for advice. Tell them i am happy to take the display model but it seems they have lost the stand.

Again i need to deal with the online dept. So i call the online dept and they put me on hold to call the store and we are now in a comical roundabout conversation where i am relaying information through the online department to the store rep who is standing next to me. This goes on for some time and just when i am losing the will to live, a tv turns up over the road at the central plaza store! Boom, problem solved. I sign the paperwork, collect my wall bracket and the 2/5 accesories they actually had in stock and trot up the street to collect the Tv… which they dont have… aaaargh

Apologies if this comes across as a rant… I should say the reps were trying to be helpful in what looks to be an understaffed store.

What I am upset with is the online sales system which either sold me stock which didnt exist (not good enough dickies - you are a technology store) or sold my items after i purchased them, presumably for a higher price (pretty shonky business practice).

Not sure what i will do now. Meekly fill out the online contact form and wait for them to respond i guess. They should cancel the transaction and i will eventually get my money back but 2 trips to the store and several hours wasted and i missed out on a bargain!

40" tv bracket for sale…

The C&C says to wait till you receive notification that your C&C is ready to collect.

I ordered some of the Eneloop Panasonic batteries last week when reduced on C&C in the same store. I happened to receive the notification at the end of the day and collected the next day without issue.

What seems to have happened here is that the OP purchased a product, and the store then sold his television to someone else.

  • i'm waiting for a refund as well. when i ordered it was clearly listed as 'in stock', and was at another few stores. they claimed they were only display models and they couldnt get stock. believable, but what doesnt make me believe them is that they claimed they were trying to contact me all week when i only had one missed call which i returned by the next morning.

what REALLY bothers me is that in my online account it shows as 'order complete', and 'shipped' when they tell me its been forwarded to online dept. for a refund, but i have ZERO evidence of this.

whats worse is, i paid with gift cards. ie. CC chargeback impossible.

i'm going to try sort mine out tomorrow. let you know how it goes.

  • FWIW i had a similar experience with a C&C order.. they got back to me pretty quick smart when I contacted them via the online contact form on their website (Australia-based staff seem to answer this form).. so you shouldn't have to wait for long after lodging your complaint

It was such a screwup over a $20 I'm very reluctant to use C&C again…

  • Hi guys,
Thanks for comments. I am still waiting for a response from Saturday. Going to send them another online form now.

  • The bastards never contacted me when I ordered one of two Logitech G19 keyboards in stock at the local DSE. Apparently they had both been pinched. It was Logan Central though…

  • www.dicksmith.com.au what a joke! Click and Don't Collect! Their website will take your money, you'll even get an acknowledgement email… then that's it, your product never arrives in the store, you can email a complaint, but they're ignore it. A terrible experience from a retailer well past it's prime. Never again, do not bother!

    • PM them via facebook, i got my gift card refund instantly that way.

Same… their stock level is not accurate !

I had at least 5-6 times experience with Click&Collect online stating "In-Stock" but order get cancelled after as the store doesn't have stock

  • I ordered a few items click and collect. Didn't hear from them for 5 days. Finally got an email that my order was prepared and ready for pick up. Go in there, give them the number and they tell me no one has prepared my order so they'll go and do it now. They come back several minutes later and tell me they've sold the items and they can give me a refund. I should have known.

  • A couple of times when they could not fulfil my click and collect, they gave me a gift card. Then I started asking for refund on credit card, that was an intensive exercise!

Be strong and keep pushing for refund, unless you really want that gift card and have a safe place with high visibility to store it.

  • Ordered the USB sticks and alkaline cells two Fridays ago for a total of $5. Order still "being fulfilled". Ironic thing is I found the exact same items in DJs today while buying the Vodafone starter kit so I bought them there. So I'm not in a hurry for my C&C order. I'll wait and see. Maybe they'll cancel and I'll save some money. Or maybe I'll have to sic Paypal refund policy on them.

How can they have this kind of delay and think they'll succeed at e-commerce, I'll never know.

    • Ok so I sent in a complaint through their form and asked for a refund if they didn't actually have the goods. Within an hour I got notified by Paypal of a refund. So while I didn't lose any money, I hate how DSE wasted my time with an incompetent e-commerce system. No wonder they are floundering.

  • I got frustrated with C&C order as well. I ordered a belkin surge protector on 25/11 and the item is still not ready to be picked up until now.
Funny thing is about a week ago there was a sale going on where the same item is promised to be ready to be collected the next day after 2PM..
But somehow my order is still in limbo…

I'm now thinking of disputing the transaction from PayPal.
