Optus $2 My Prepaid Daily Plus

Hi guys, I have a question about Optus My Prepaid Daily Plus. Suppose I recharge for the value of $10, can I put the plan on hold? This is what I mean: Let's say I need it (hypothetically) only on Monday and Tuesday, with $10 practically I got 5 days of usage ($2/day). Can I use that on Monday and Tuesday, then Monday and Tuesday the following week and Monday the following week? Is there turn on/off of the plan daily?

Thanks.

    No.
You need to disable mobile data, don't make any calls or text messages. They wont charge you for those days.

  • Oh… that's not bad. So basically if I take the SIM out of the phone then I won't get charged?

If you don't make calls and sms and also disable data usage you won't be charged for the day. You can still receive calls and Sms from people.

Oh, airplane mode is a guaranteed way to not be charged for that day. Or if you have some self control, disable mobile data only and hold out on calling and smsing people

  • Cheers. Thanks for all your responses.

  • I think the plan failed at the 60 pm rate and now people are just weighing whether it justifiable on an airplane mode/part-time basis.. . just plane inconvenience :)

  • I have a phone on the $1 daily plan that I use for near-daily inbound calls (and very rarely outbound). I've still got most of the initial $30 credit remaining after approximately 230 days, having done a $10 recharge at the 6-month mark. As dtnvong says, make sure you disable data if you're not using it to avoid triggering a 'billed day'.

Sounds excessive. You'd save on the $5 ALDI Starter SIM for 365 days ;)

I've got another phone on the ALDImobile 365 plan - again it's practically all inbound calls, but with better coverage :)
The Optus plan isn't bad for 24 hours of unlimited SMS, with a bit of voice and data (or unlimited voice for the additional 50c) when you only need to do so one day a fortnight.

  • Now another question but related to this topic: Can I turn off the Auto bump? I don't want to automatically be charged for $2 once I used up my 500MB. Thanks.

    • I think you can guess the answer here — either wait for usage- alert, or check over options phone menu\Data Usage - OR join a SIM only which deliver you quota(s) in one lump sum.
I get free weekend voda reception, get stopped at 2gb great, toggle back 4g & continue on

      otoh…
I've burned all 3x 2.00 ( =1+ GBday) to the extent A/C locked down 24hours. However, like above, I'm partial to 1.00 daily/6M essentially dumb-phone plan - BUT well designed to the sporadic voice user's inbound &/ possibly spare backup phone.
