Cheapest Way to Buy Lightroom 6?

Hi all. I've been holding out on taking the plunge to get lightroom until version 6 came out. To my dismay, there is no longer a student version available which means on the adobe website the only options are subscribing to the CC ($9.99/month which i'm not keen on) or buying outright for $189.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any shops that stock LR6 at a discounted price? I've had a quick search around to no avail.

cheers!

  • I'll second this. Looking for lightroom without resorting to piracy

  • try static ice. it might be worth getting a vpn and getting it from a us site as this is one of the companies that give us the australia tax. i use anonomouyx addon for firefox

    • I've tried static ice not nothing much going on there. was considering the US download option. might look into it

  • darn, my subscription ran out a week too early to get the update.

  • Could it be bundled under Adobe Creative Suite 6 ?

    • Lightroom isn't included in CS6.

If you have access to an 'onthehub'/Kivuto store you may have access to Creative Cloud - still subscription - but for significantly less. However, what you have access to depends on what your school/uni/dept has licensed.

I have Creative Cloud this way, and… well, it's less than $20 a year. (and includes just about everything)

      • Thanks for this, I just bought Adobe CC from Kivuto store using my Uni email for $12.25/year.

Downloading new LightRoom as I type :D

  • Do you use LR for processing RAW images?

I've been considering alternatives because I don't like the subscription pricing model either.

Have come across Corel AfterShot 2 (formerly Bibble), http://mylio.com/ and DxO Optics Pro.

They all seem to have a free trial so no harm in testing them out (Corel will send you dozens of discount emails though)

  • Anyone have anywhere of buying cheap lightroom 6?

  • Yeah anyone know

  • FYI for Creative Cloud (Lightroom + Photoshop), Argentina currently has the cheapest price which works out to be approx. $5.08 AU per month. Also worth noting that CC gets new feature updates whereas standalone version of Lightroom 6 does not.

  • Cheapest at Kogan $151.56 using EBAY code CTECHIE (20% OFF), ends today. $189.45 without the code.

  • If you get a trial of Adobe Lightroom CC, once the trial expires, you can still import and manage your photos, undo any editing work you did during the trial and create exports of your photos (including using export plugins). You can't use the Develop part of LR when your trial is over obviously.

Depends on why you want Lightroom. If it's only for managing your photos, then you can technically do it for free.
