011
OZB-SOS-CUBIC-DEAL

Hi fellow Ozbargainers :) As part of our introduction to the Ozbargain community we would like to offer 20 units of Cubic Ninja game (Australian) for the Nintendo 3DS console at a lower price than ebay (for brand new) and online retailers.

  • Deal saves $10 off $78.88 price, so you pay a total of $68.88 + free standard shipping.

Use this to open the world of Homebrew on your Nintendo 3DS, 2DS, 3DS XL, or n3DS console (see video on our site for explanation). Rare to find a PAL version brand new. This is proper Australian PAL stock. Will not be replenished once sold. This may be the last chance to get this title at a reasonable price.

(See deal for full product information)

  • 24 hours only (unless sold out prior)
  • Total price $68.88 (using coupon code)
  • Official Australian Edition (may be valuable to collectors, because most sellers provide import version only which is not compatible with Australian consoles)
  • This deal ships weekdays from Sydney to Australian addresses only
  • Free off-peak shipping to any Australian address. We also offer Priority shipping including extra packaging + shipping insurance at a reasonable price.
  • Valid until Saturday 2nd May 2015 (unless sold out prior)
  • Limited to 20 units, one per customer.
  • Brand new and factory-sealed.
  • sellingoutsoon.com.au reserves the right to end this promotion early, for any reason, with no prior notice.

To help with competitive pricing and availability, this is what we found including cheapest shipping to Australia, total in $AU, current at time of writing:

EB Games (no stock)
JB HiFi (no stock)
Play Asia (no stock)
Gameseek (no stock)
OZGameshop (no stock)
Amazon UK $69.18 (Used only, import version, including cheapest delivery cost, not necessarily the PAL version, so it may not be compatible with Australian consoles)
Amazon USA (no stock, incompatible with Australian consoles)
Dungeoncrwal (no stock)
MightyApe (no stock)
CheapGames (no stock)
sellingoutsoon.com.au $68.88 (Official Australian Edition, limited stock)

  • Major retail seems to have sold out of this title, best alternative pricing is online as per above, if available)

Enjoy Homebrew! And THANK YOU for allowing us to be a part of the Ozbargain community.

This is just scalping. This is a bargain-bin 5 dollar game and you're selling it at an inflated price for homebrew? For this price one can buy a gateway or other flashcart that gives homebrew AND the ability to play backups/roms.

    • for 3ds though?

      • +1

Yes. Look up gateway (for roms and homebrew) or sky3ds (just roms). Paying scalpers like this is a joke.

        • sweet thanks. wish i didnt update my firmware now though!

    • -7

Sorry if you feel that way, let me assure you, if you knew the trouble we went to to get this rare title, you'd understand why EB, JB, and other retailers have been unwilling to help meet people's requests for it. We paid a lot more for it than it used to cost too. I hope this helps someone, to be frank, people pay more for it on ebay! Like 10 minutes ago…

      • +1

There's crap-all homebrew on 3ds anyway. I agree there's also scalpers on ebay but they don't claim to be selling a 'bargain'

  • +1

Wow. I don't see a deal here at all.

    • The game is used to launch an exploit on the 3DS system which allows you to run Homebrew applications (for region free etc). People are paying an arm and a leg for it, this guy is just taking advantage of that demand :)

    • -4

I guess it depends on the service everybody else provides. We do offer a very high degree of service, we'd love you to try us out and see for yourself :) because we always do what we say.

      • Not doubting your customer service or anything. We usually come here to get a good deal off retail or even freebies/extras with our purchases.

Retail of this game was probably $49.95 at best. You have this listed on your website and $10 more on your eBay store. You were selling for what I would call a pretty reasonable/standard price for the game at $33.75 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Cubic-Ninja-NEW-SEALED-PAL-100-AU…

I know you say your profit margin isn't much but shifting with the market (which is no issue at all, the issue is trying to pass it off as a bargain) seems you are making a little more than a couple of bucks with this offer.

You do imply there is something going on with other stores stocking this product. EB completely removed it from their online store shortly after the exploit was released, I am guessing that Nintendo and EB are pretty close ;) so it wouldn't be that far fetched that Nintendo had a hand in their pulling of this item. Could all be a coincidence… but you can still find the odd copy at EB in store.

So you made a deal with a distro and they upped their price due to this demand? I guess they can't come out and say that. Does Ubi have a direct distro in Australia or maybe AID had a backlog of stock sitting there. I guess you can't really say as that would implicate the distro in upping the price for you due to piracy… err Homebrew enabling.

Who knows. All I suggest is next time maybe make a forum post instead of a "bargain/deal" post.

        Good luck with your sale.

        • +1

Thank you, definitely one of my favourite comments in the last 100 or so! I agree with much of what you said, rather well-informed too, but your attitude is the most impressive. So helpful, in fact, you've inspired us to have a "Most Helpful Ozbargainer" award, where we pick the fairest and most interesting comment monthly (probably monthly, we may need to be reminded!) and give that person a fat credit ($50) in our store, just for being cool. You're looking pretty good to win it this month :) …how does that sound??

  • Unless you haven't updated your 3DS' firmware in the past six months, this game does not work for hacking anymore. Nintendo patched this exploit a long time ago.

(The game itself is also terrible)

    • -4

Yes, the game is probably not why people buy this…although it got a pretty good review from someone on Amazon when we looked today! Not sure if it was US or UK site though… But most people get this for Homebrew.

  • +1

i think this post is a definition of scalping

    • -3

Wow, lots of haters of Monkeys! Just so you know, it's cool if you disagree, but this game is very tightly held at wholesale, very expensive for us to buy now, and generally impossible to get. This is why we can't do it as cheaply as we'd like. But it's still cheaper than ebay for those who prefer new and sealed Australian version :) but if you don't want it, that's OK too. WE're just doing our best to help people get what they want where retailers seem to have failed the public.

      • It's totally scalping. This is a bargain site and the price you listed is way over the already inflated ebay buy-it-now prices.

        • Not arguing, just asking…for new…if so which ones?

        • What's the difference if it's new or old? I only need it for a few minutes then I'd just relist it on ebay for the next person to use.

  • +2

Pay us a premium so you can pirate.

    Get lost.

    • -2

No worries, we're OK with lots of opinions. Please see above :)

  • +2

I LITERALLY got my copy for 50c from Kmart, the game was going for no higher than $10 before the Exploit was found, EB/JB have been ordered to return any copies to Nintendo. You are attempting to scalp people, plain and simple.

And just to hurt you I am going to share this bit of information.
The exploit in cubic ninja isnt exclusive to it, infact a similar exploit can be run using the web browser on your 3ds.

Cubic Ninja is useless now, only collectors would be interested in it for its history, not its function

    • -1

Wow, that's cheap, literally. How much was it figuratively though? :) hehe but seriously, anyone who values history is welcome to buy it. Thanks for wanting to hurt people, I'm sure you're nicer in person. As for EB and JB being ordered to return any copies, I'm not sure who told you that, but that is not true. Nintendo doesn't even make this game. But you're welcome to say whatever you like, freedom of expression is OK!

  • I'm pretty, as of the latest update for 3DS, this exploit has been patched by Nintendo. So basically a useless game.

    • We've heard nothing of this. You may be right. But no buyers have ever said this to us, as far as I'm aware. FWIW, I'm pretty too :)

      • The exploit use by this game was patched in 9.3 which came out 8th December 2014. Current 3ds firmware is 9.7 as others have mentioned systems that will work with this exploit will also work with a browser exploit which is free.

  • I think it's obvious that the main sales point of this product is an exploit that has been already patched by Nintendo.
So either this product shouldn't be allowed on Ozbargain because it's pretty much same as R4 in a way, allowing the users to circumvent the protection that Nintendo have placed, or it's not a deal because the game used to cost less than $5.

    • -1

Allow me to be rather clear here: we have absolutely no interest in piracy, and have nothing whatsoever to do with it. Our level of interest has been in allowing people to buy it for Homebrew titles/other software, not for infringement of any kind. Call us naive, but that's the truth. We're here to help meet demand. Sorry if we've hurt anyone's feelings. I can't help but thinking that many of these negs may be from employees of store who can't get this official stock though…not hating, just saying.

      • Careful rep, you're starting to lose your composure.

        • I believe it is called blatant honesty :) and to reiterate, we only sell official products. We're not here to annoy anyone, sincere apologies if that's what has happened.

        • @sellingoutsoon: You honestly believe these people are owners of or hold a position in a video game store that would allow them to earn anything extra if they had these 20 copies of this game? If so I believe you may be deluded. I've been watching your deals with interest since the PS4 one a few weeks back and will continue to but I believe you're barking up the wrong tree trying to sell these here. Take it to eBay mate.

        • -1

@Where's_That_Cake: No, I don't believe that. Possibly normal staff who've had customers abuse them for not having the game when their son insists they should have it, because his friend got it for $20. That type of thing does happen in retail, and it is very annoying for retail staff. What's often hidden from public view is what it costs to get rare stock. It's hard, that's why hardly anyone is willing to do it. Again, really sorry if we've hurt anybody here. We just buy rare stock, and are willing to pay the price. Considering this is cheaper than elsewhere (if there is an elsewhere) we though some people would appreciate it. Because normally buyers are super happy to find it! Perhaps we were wrong about that?

    • AFAIK it is patched for newer fw but as long as you've kept around the 9 mark it works fine. This is why you always see people asking what fw new 3DS's are when they go on sale.

      • +1

Reminds me of the PSP era. Ahhh, PSP :)

  • +1

I'll admit it's impressive that somebody managed to find 20 new, sealed copies of Cubic Ninja. But just because you've got rare stock doesn't make your post a bargain, especially if you're charging higher than its original retail price.

    • Fair comment, but it really does depend on what one's best alternative is. And we're nowhere near the prices we've seen this sell for second hand on ebay. I think everyone has seen that. And yes, it is impressive, we work incessantly to provide value where we can. It is my best guess that EB, JB and the like (not that I represent any of them) were unwilling to pay the much higher cost than normal to secure this title, because it is no longer possible to sell for the former price because quite simply the value has increased so it cost us more. Again, sorry if we offended anyone. Not really sure how since our price is the lowest in the known world for a new, official item :)

  • I got this game for $2.50 and even then the game isnt worth that price..
Now that the exploit is patched, its even more redundant.
Not a bargain in any sense of the word.

  • +2

    Actually I paid 25c for it http://i60.tinypic.com/2rpd9ur.jpg

    • Wow, you got some bargains. If we could do what you did (at a quantity of 1000) we could sell it for 30 cents (possibly not with free shipping though! :)

  • We're not here to annoy anyone, sincere apologies if that's what has happened.

  • RIP OFF

Fish Pong got it for $16.95 inc postage

    http://www.fishpond.com.au/Books/Cubic-Ninja-UbiSoft-Manufac…

    • -1

Fish pong. Yes, experienced that in a bad restaurant in Dubbo. Turned me off fish for a while.

      • Just checked, it's used. As new, usually means not new. And we haven't yet verified whether they actually have any stock available, even used. Jury is still out on that.

        • They actually have new copies for $59.95 delivered.

        • -1

@donga100: Cool, thanks for actually checking. The deal is changed now, but it seems our deal was still better, and we deliver pretty fast too, from Sydney :)

        • +1

It's still more expensive than the $58.16 price at fishpond

    • This! If someone just wants this for homebrew a second hand 'like new' copy is perfect

  • Thanks for your feedback people. Slight adjustment to deal, we hope you like this a little better.

    • +1

      Slight?

You may want to look for a deal on dictionaries.

      • -1

Haha :) not bad. What can I say, we respect people's right to their opinions. Even if they're different from ours. And…clearly the market spoke. And we listened. We hope that 10 people will find this deal to be of value to them, and if and when they do, we'll take great care in providing excellent service.

        • +1

Then you came to the wrong site. This is not a place to post your ad. Even you are the only one in the world that have stock doesn't make it automatically qualified as a bargain.

        • @nbn: Hi nbn :) if you're commenting on cubic ninja, my comment was about something completely different. You see, I attempted to change the deal to something I thought people would like more, but it was changed back to the original deal. My comment was actually about metal gear solid: snake eater 3d for 3ds. Is that game something that people would generally prefer over cubic ninja, if it was a deal instead?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  • Look, is it the cheapeast aus stock new? Probably
Is it at all a deal? Not really. It was bargain bin price before the exploit was found and i'd be surprised if many people are really that keen to buy it at that price too.

    • Thanks for a fair, decent comment. Please read above where I've addressed some of these concerns. Please note: we tried to make a new deal which would likely represent the needs of more buyers, but it reverted back to this one. As a matter of interest, how many of you would be interested in getting a good deal on metal gear solid: snake eater 3d on 3ds, if we posted that?

      • +1

Im interested in amazing prices on fun WiiU games.
And why not Amiibos if the price is really good compared to what we can find at Target/BigW etc.

For example, I got Mario Party 10 for $42 at BigW (havent played yet), Assassin's Creed for $8 at BeatTheBomb (haven't played yet). Im looking forward to bargains on Super Smash Bros, Splatoon, Captain Toad Treasure Hunter, maybe Yoshi Wooly World etc.

Its all about how much we, consumers, can save. The bigger the better.
Pull-out an amazing deal with minimal GP, look forward to get out of stock within 24 hours no matter how big you are (ex: Woolworths and Quilton)

        • Yes, completely agree. Most deals on Nintendo branded items (eg Mario Party 10) are predicated upon losses from the retailer, commonly known as a loss leader. We would love nothing more than to offer Nintendo branded stock, primarily because it is generally awesome! Getting deals on it that make viable offers is another story. But we'll see what we can do :) and thanks too for answering my question so well.

      • I'd say because the votes and such were based of the deal for Cubic Ninja, better off making a new deal for that but if you haven't already, read the rep posting rules around that. As for Metal Gear Solid, well i've done a search around and it does seem like that is a pretty good price, it's barely in stock at all, or if so, costs more, most of them aren't AUS stock either. Not sure if you have looked at it before but http://www.comparegames.com.au is a great place to get an idea of who might have stock and at what price/country version. I suppose another thing with this rarer type games is, how much difference does AUS stock make? Cheapest is more important to some as long as they can play it (or use for homebrew in this case).

        Eh, my 2c anyway.

        • Thank you for being constructive, again. Your attitude is highly appreciated.

  • +2

Rep, for god's sake, quit arguing with us all here to try to save face. It just makes you look bad.

The mistake you've made is that you've posted here to promote the fact that you have some stock of a rare product at all. That's fine, and your right to sell it - but what this site is about, what people come here for, is unusually good bargains. Your stock isn't a bargain - it's at roughly the same price point as the rest of the market, give or take a couple of dollars - it's just something you're selling. Hence, the negative votes you're getting.

(Edit: And, for crying out loud, the only reason your price is on par with the rest of the market is because the entire market has decided to mark up this bargain-bin hunk of junk - seriously, it has to be up there for worst game I've ever played - because it's in demand due to smealum's Ninjhax. And given Nintendo's recent stock level problems with e.g. amiibos, the limited edition N3DS release in the US, etc, the entire 3DS community is only going to meet high prices with negativity and claims of "scalping" - and given you mention homebrew in your post, you clearly already know this is an opportunistically priced ripoff).

    • Not sure why you think I am arguing, just attempting to respond as fairly and accurately as possible in the interest of better communication :)

The original deal was posted with the purest of intentions, and although it hasn't been received well for various reasons, the profit margin is far lower than some other deals we have posted. We only procured this in service to others, it is a very expensive (and exceedingly difficult) title to procure officially. I hope my responses have been fair and positive, because that is the intention behind them. Read all our posts, and you'll see a good attitude towards people, and open communication.

      • +1

Other than suggesting that the neg votes were all competitors out to get you.

        • Haha :) I wouldn't say it like that. That would be a sensationalist way to describe a mere impression re. store employees venting against the messenger. I've worked in stores like this, and we all know Ozbargain, which now has over 150,000 members.

  • +3

    What a terrible deal.

    This should be unpublished.
