Logical Blue One => Administrator Appointed

Hi all,

I recall that there were quite a few Logical Blue One deals posted here and probably a lot of Ozbargainers purchased a laptop from them (me included) so for those that are not aware, it looks like LBO may be in financial trouble as per their website: http://www.logicalblueone.com.au/store/

Here is a thread discussing it on Whirlpool: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2398201

If there is anyone waiting on an order and their credit card has already been charged, here is a comment from Jack suggesting how to get your money back: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2397864&#…

Hope our laptops are so well built that we don't need to chase up warranty. I wonder if Horize would assist.

Shame, I thought they were extremely professional and great to deal with.

Damn shame. I guess you really don't make much profit selling just whitebox laptops… that, and the massive increase in production costs due to weak AUD must have also drove a nail in the coffin.

    • +3

Imagine running a business where 90% of your customers are tech savvy bargain hunters who wouldn't hesitate to order a diskless laptop just so they can save $30 by ordering a 250GB SSD from Newegg and installing it themselves. You'd be making a very low margin on every component, with very little opportunity to differentiate yourself. On the other hand, you are competing with assemblers like Dell and Apple who can buy a 250GB drive for $90 and can get away with charging an extra $300 to install it.

  • People seem to have issues since beginning of this year

Sad that it happened — LBO has many great deals here in the past.

  • Very sad news. I bought a high end laptop from them, at a great price for what it is but still expensive, just a couple months ago. They were a little slow at delivering it but ultimately it arrived and works great. However, my extended warranty is probably now worthless.

Interestingly, I received a snail mail letter from the receivers Morton Solvency Accountants inviting me to the meeting of creditors in QLD. I'm not due any refunds so maybe it refers to the warranty or maybe they've contacted everyone who made a recent purchase just in case?

I reckon the low AUD plus the general state of the economy must have done them in.

    • They owe you: (1) extended warranty.
