Avoiding iTunes Store Australian Premium

Wanted to buy some music today (foolish, I know, but I want to support a few artists), and looking at the US store, most of the songs were $1.29USD per song or $9.99USD per album.

Converting that to AUD with today's rates, that's 1.65 AUD per song or 12.76 AUD for the album.

However on the Australian store, it ends up at $2.19 for a song and $16.99 for the album.

Is there any way to get around the "Australian premium" whilst still also keeping an Australian iTunes account?
