My crystal ball says there will be haters on the way tomorrow.

Ps. Great find, whether they honour it or not.

  • +1

    Great find thanks!

  • +1

Thank so. Put my order in

  • No click and collect?
    Shipping is $8?

    • try in another store.

  • +5

Dick's just teasing you; you'll never get it for free.

    • No-one likes a dick tease.

  • +1

Is the code for $10 off or what?

    • $20 off for selected items only.
      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/take-20-off

      • +1

Thanks, will place an order, see how it goes

    • Seems like the code only works for 1 item resulting in a $9.98 discount instead of the full $20.

      • +3

You are doing it wrongly? I got 30+40 batteries for FREE

        • same here… i got 1 pack of AA and 1 pack of AAA for FREE!

        • @demere:

          "… i got … (etc.)"

Not yet you didn't… it might have been safer to just order one lot ($9.98 worth)… Sometimes those who just order the minimum amount they can get for free get rewarded when these errors occur, while those that try and "max-out" the freebie have their orders cancelled…

Not judging at all, juz sayin'…

          Good luck all!

        • +1

Ah, seems like if you put two of the same items the discount only applies to one. If it's two different items it'll apply to both.

        • @GnarlyKnuckles: lol… now my order has been cancelled.. hahaha… good try though…

    Nice Found !

    I LOVE FREE STUFFS

  • I doubt they will honour it, but I'm giving it a go as well ;p

    • Well, you've "gotta be in it to win it" Activite… and I figure the odds are still better than winning on a scratchy or sommat, and entering this comp is free :)

  • whether they going to honor it or not i'm going to the store first thing in the morning to try my luck for pick up.. lol

  • Done Thanks :)

  • +1

I have a feeling order will get cancelled, but still upvote for smart thinking by OP!

  • +1

Probably not going to work, but meh, even if it doesn't work, I tried. :)
    Thanks OP :D

  • +1

Ordered. But come on, you know they are going to cancel all of these.

    • :)Yes, most probably they will. I wish it would be a few $$$.

  • +1

Lol. Ordered. They will cancel I'm sure.

I just found in my account however a click and collect that still says readt to collect even though I collected it a couple of months ago. Hmm.

    • +1

Maybe your local DSE outlet is a bit like the 'Magic Pudding' Bleacher… you chould try and collect it again (and again, and again, etc.) :)

      • +6

        Haha.

How come I feel I couldn't do that with a clear conscious, but happy to try and get 70 batteries for free?

The other day I ordered a Bluetooth waterproof speaker for $60 but they delivered a wifi extender worth $150. Could have sold it and bought the speaker again, making a profit… But couldn't. So took it back to a store to exchange.

        • +1

You are just being sensible ;)

        • +1

"How come I feel I couldn't do that with a clear conscious, but happy to try and get 70 batteries for free?"

LOL, yeah I hear ya. I'm happy to try my luck on a one-off pricing/code error (as long as it's an error made by a big/successful company who can easily absorb it), cause it's logical to assume that whether I do or don't will have no net effect at all on the situation; either I cash in on it, or someone else does. But when it starts to pretty much resemble theft, or a subtle scam (like pretending ginger is potatoes while weighing it at the self-check-out at Woolies, for example), I'm out. Not entirely logical I know… it's just the way my personal ethics seem to be structured at this point in my life.

It would be quite interesting to know where different OzBers draw the line in this regard, and on what basis…

          @GnarlyKnuckles:

Ye, I tend to agree with you.

I guess the difference is whether they are the ones making the mistakes (via coupons stacking, price error etc.) or you are the one actively causing the event (like ginger-potato switcharoo).

        • @koreainhyuk:
Aye, wise words hombre, I think that's what I was essentially driving at but I didn't articulate it properly/clearly. Well said.

        • +1

I have 2 orders that are still "Ready to collect" from Mar 15 and Dec 2014 at 2 different stores but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to collect them again. It's just the staff who served me forgot to update my orders' status.

BTW, mis amigos, don't do that because if you succeed then the staff who serve you may have their salary deducted and/or receive bad performance reviews. (Not sure about retail workers but I used to work in a restaurant and when I made mistakes I had to pay for that or get bad review from my supervisor.)

        • @GnarlyKnuckles: that thing you mention done at woollies self checkout is clearly a theft.

  • -5

I didn't want to be selfish so I only ordered 8. Thanks OP.

  • Lol… Tricky Dicky.

  • +11

I betcha some genius will contact DSE and demand to know why they can't get the "code for the free batteries" to work…

Good find OP, even if the orders are cancelled.

    • If it means I get to be called a genius, I will do it!

    • you mean the 'smart' a@##

  • Site getting ozbargained?

  • +6

Ordered! I can't wait for the cancellation email :)

    • :)

    • Great attitude. Expecting the worst. You can only be let down if the order goes through ;)

  • Sweeeet, ordered. Thanks OP

  • -1

At least they know that canceling the orders will mean that none of us will EVER shop at DSE again.

    • +7

It's the same thing with binge drinking. You get smashed, then you say to your friends in the morning "I'm never doing THAT again".

Then you get wasted a week later and repeat ad infinitum.

    • Everyone does mistakes mate. They have brought great deals so far to OZB and the super fast delivery except the pricing errors . So, why we wouldn't ?

      • +2

Jeebus That's a joke guy's, we all know that nothing encourages companies to honour their deals like customer backlash.

  • Do they give you the extra 4cents credit back in cash after you use the $20 Mum voucher?

  • Ordered for the fun. Bring eht, Dick!!

  • Lets give it a shot :)

  • Worth a crack for the 2 minutes out of my life.

  • ozabused +1

  • +1

Wnk, you might have got away with receiving your batteries had you not posted the deal on here.

Big Dick is going to realise he is gettin ozb'd again and cancel all the orders.

Lucky we all have a stash of eneloops in the kitchen drawer for just such a disastrous occurrence.

    • +2

Yep, there are more than enough eneloops.

    • "… and cancel all the orders."

Not necessarily so Q-ball. Clearly "the big dick" is chucking these batteries out/clearing them (i.e. it's a 'discontinued line'), and is not exactly fussy about the price they get. Also, on 'zany errors' like this, if there's many different outlets involved often some orders get honoured even if the majority get cancelled. It's actually a lot smarter for the company involved to honour at least a few of the orders, so that 'mass hate' is avoided; if for example 10% of the community actually get their orders, the rest of the community then feels happy for them/ can 'write-off' their own personal lack of order-fulfilment as being due to limited stock, and the company avoids massive/united consumer back-lash.

Woolies realised this (or it just happened accidentally) when they miraculously crashed through with some of the toilet-paper orders.

Before that, there was the Coke; I don't think anyone who got their order (at least 80% or those who ordered?) could ever truly dislike Woolies again after that one…

'Staples' is another mob who actually honoured an unexpectedly large number of orders made after someone seemingly 'screwed up the decimal point' (quality work-boots delivered for $2 a pair etc.)

So what I am trying to say is, where a pricing error like this occurs re a product the company is essentially trying to 'clear' anyway, the company is far better off simply honouring as many orders as stock/logistics allows; despite the error. The smarter companies out there seem to realise this.

  • Ordered just for fun hey :P

  • thanks ordered :D let's wait and pray kkk

  • +1

I remember last time there was a similar type of deal, I ended up getting a completely free torch and hdmi cable. Dick Smith honoured it, maybe they'll do the same this time!

    • Good to know mate. Nor sure how many double pack of batteries they will have to offer free for the orders placed by the today morning.

      • +1

Hahaha agreed! Thanks for the Bargain WNK!

        • +1

Good chance for them to clear out all the junk batteries in all over the DS stores :).

    • Haha, probably not when it got ozbargained

    • I also got a pair of headphones and a audio cable delivered for free.

  • haha

  • +3

Thanks - went for 2xAA so at least I had to pay something - $10 for 100 batteries is still good - might be a higher chance of not being cancelled!

    • Don't you mean $10 for 80 AA batteries

      • I meant 2xAA (together with 1xAAA) - so $30 in total (-$20 voucher) = $10 for 2x30 + 1x40 = 100 batteries

        • Ah thanks

  • Heh, might as well join the fun :-).

  • DS online team will be so busy in the morning!

  • this is so going to get cancelled! just like that epic tv discount lol

    • "… this is so going to get cancelled!"

Awww, don't be such a pessimist!… The Delivery Hero AWESOMENESS continues, I've still got 9 boxes of Coke I scored pretty much for free, at least some peeps on here are now sorted for bog-rolls FOR LIFE

      And that's just recently, hombre…

      Miracles do happen.

      Think positive :)

  • Great find! Thanks heaps!

Ordered but pretty sure they won't honour it.

  • +1

This is why I love OzBargain. Deals like this bring that community feel back. Even if the order gets cancelled, you can feel the excitement in the comment section here! It's alive and buzzing!

  • To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction.

    • Newton's 3rd law!

      • +1

"Up and down motion, produces white lotion"

  • Wait.. isn't there anything else we can get for free?

    • Nope.

    • "… isn't there anything else we can get for free?"

You can get a small sachet of tomato sauce for free at Maccas, but you need to buy some fries to qualify for that 'deal'; so I guess technically, it is not actually free.

  • +2

If you get to the store before the online department finds out you can get them free, just make sure you get up early cause these battery's are normal stock that the stores usually have.

    • +2

If you don't have an email saying your click and collect order is ready to collect, wouldn't you be wasting your time going in store and asking for it? (Especially when you show them your order acknowledgement as part of your special request and they see $0!)

  • Very easy and no risk, and free cancellation email thrown in tomorrow. Supplying 1+ million batteries for free aint a good bet ;^)
    Thanks OP.

  • got aas and aaas from 2 different stores.

  • Done!

    Thx OP

  • When Dick gets a hold of the situation, he's gonna blow you all off. Still… who can resist a freebie for Dick?

    • sssshhh…. Please don't make any sound………….Dick is sleeping well and only the Oz-bargainers are awake at this time :):).

    • That sounds as though it could get messy.

  • Doubt this will be honored but worth a try :D thanks OP

  • Done, but I always use rechargeables these days. Thanks to Ozbatterygain, sorry I meant Ozbargain, I have heaps eneloops bought for cheap from DSE and I still have not used my Fujitsu AA and AAA 4x10 packs bought at less than 25c/battery from earlier DSE deals.

What on earth can I do to put all of these batteries to good use?

  • woo, lucky I didn't sleep early today.

  • I knew i wake up early for something! Juve Madrid everybody!

  • +1

    free=good
    nice one op

  • Gonna get cancelled baby,

    Gonna get cancelled baby

  • well if people are going with click n collect, worst case is dick runs out of batteries and you can't click and collect anymore. So worst case is he partially clears shelf in good will. They don't do click and collect until empty shelves, they keep some for full paying customers. And they stores don't keep 1000's.

I'm sure delivery costs will put some people off, if they can't click n collect.

  • Any 4c item I can add? ;-)
