  • I'm curious if there was a queue for last event when they did this at George St. Same this time?

    • I came about 4-430pm. No queue, just the typical waiting time to be served by the next available person

      • Thanks, I meant in the morning. Trying to decide whether to go early @ 9 or anytime in the arvo

        • Number 93 as of 9:02. Sydney questions is full.

        • @krisspy: no number yet. Long queue at 9:10 am.

  • Nice, time to replace the screen on my Galaxy S4

  • Might be a dumb question but do they also replace the top metal frame around the screen on the s4 when they do a screen repair?

Last time I did a screen repair then it got sent for a motherboard replacement (under warranty) and my phone came with the screen fix and the metal frame replaced (the metal frame was damaged with some pieces missing prior to the service)

    • I guess it depends if its one piece the digitiser and the Glass/Frame itself.

I know S3 is one piece.

    • Yes, my metal frame also got replaced when they were replacing the LCD

  • No love for i9506 :(

    • There is no specific the model code of the phone. I9506 also is S4 so you qualify to this promotion. Try to queue the line ealier in the morning and make sure backup all your data via Kies3 because it all will be swipe during repair.

  • This is official photo which also be shown at store.

This repair $55 will only cover screen replacement cost (the actual and genuine screen - glass and display - cost around $200 if repair outside).

Any further damages found while inspection the phone will be quote to customer before hand including software customed, rooted or unauthorization modification both software and hardware on the phone.

Ensure backup all your data on the phone because all of it will be wipe during repair. Also you will be advised keep your all memory card and SIM card belonging to you by Smart tutors.

  • I have Samsung Galaxy S5 ( LCD broken ) purchased from Kogan. Does anyone know this can be repaired through this event . Thanks.

    • Normally stock from Koran is grey imported - not Australian stock. So your phone is not be considered service from Samsung Australia.

About 30 ppl in queue right now George st

    • Let us know how you go (how long it took, etc)

      • I was given a ticket. People who were given ticket came back when numbers were called.

They said they doing 5-10 numbers at a time. Go in store there's another queue at counter.

        Repair will take 1.5-2hours

There's more and more people now it's over 100 for sure

Excludes overseas model they don't accept them only local stock.

You also get a gift pack label Samsung. With a towel and drink bottle

If you like you can put your details down for a draw on wifi 8gb tablet don't know which model

        • I'm working around the corner - can I expect to just walk in now, drop off a phone and come back in a few hours, or will I have to wait to drop off?

        • I'm waiting myself to see if they will call or text.

They say they will I doubt it.

Dropped it at 9:30 still waiting

  • 2 hours and still no phone returned.

  • I went and was rejected for having a o/s model. Wish I knew this before but couldn't find there t/c even though I looked online for them.

  • I got my s3 repaired in just 30 mins… I was first @ Melbourne central store. They have changed body as well …

  • BTW anyone recommend fixing myself? Only my glass is cracked. Heard many horror stories like bubbles, screen not respond to touch, not being as sharp and or something going wrong and braking the phone even more. Any fool proof cheap way to fix this? Not gonna spend over $100.

  • 2.5 hrs to get my S3 fix. Thank you Samsung never again.

Service was pitiful. 3 staff telling me 1/2 hr each time from 10:30, 11:00,11:30 starting 9:25

Only got it fixed to use as spare phone else I would have dumped it

  • Sydney deal has expired as of about midday, not accepting any more phones. I missed out.

Staff a little overwhelmed dealing with people waiting for their phone to be returned.

    • They have 4 technicians inside.

I pity them going thru that many.

However don't like the management there.

Had a look at note edge and s6 while waiting. Bloody overpriced

Ok just got out of line @ Samsung Hightpoint got there 9.30, got to the counter at 12.30pm gave them to phones to fix they told me 24-48 hours to fix the screens for 100 people? doesn't it take 1 hour or so to change a screen? Or am I wrong. Have of the staff there where just standing around taking to each other and not assisting any of the customers in line to help speed things up. The wait begins

    • +1

They simply can't keep up. Proves how many ppl have broken screens.

They don't have enough staff repairing others standing around are the sales guys. The back office technicians look like all hard working ppls.

      It's pretty disorganised.

While waiting for pickup I went to Apple store across George St. What a relief and very high level of customer service even I was just browsing.

I now know why ppl prefer Apple

      • Think it was just the highpoint store if I went into the city I'm sure that things the process would have been quicker.

    • +1

I'm still waiting for my phone to be returned. Most likely tomorrow I think.,not complaining. It's a cheap fix

  • extremely disappointed.

    1) waited 2.5 hours to be served. was an absolute disgrace.

    2) got told because someone else had opened the phone, they wont replace the screen. they would only do so if they replaced the motherboard as well. the motherboard was working fine. nothing but bait advertising.

i know if i am buying a high end phone again, apple all the way. their service is top notch!

    • Did they give you a phone c all? Did you have to pay the $55 beforehand? I didn't get denied and my note 3 frame had snapped in half. Phone still worked fine though

I brought in my 1.6 yo 5s to Apple Store with dust in the camera and they did a straight swap for a refurbished unit. Apple service is fantastic, even after sales support

      • normally apple would replace the camera unit, unless they don't have stock then they'd swap a refurb or new unit.

        • They said they could of swapped the camera but believed that I should get another unit to avoid hassles in the future. They also said because this is a replacement unit, my warranty starts again. Good on Apple.

        • @dtnvong:

          Good on Apple.

I think you would of just got lucky.

        • @ms:
It's becsuse apple have past records of everything you buy and they look it up when you book in with a genus tech guy.. I buy a lot of apple merchandise so they may have been more lenient.

Go to Samsung, they demand proof of purchase for a phone released under 2 years knowing for a fact that warranty hasn't expired yet. Then told one guy tells me covered by warranty and another not, then they replace the screen only, then ok, they were wrong and replace the frame as well but charge me extra, then they were wrong again as the "note" was a special model that a screen replacment also meant a frame replacement. I'll see tomorrow what I end up with..

Paid the $55 and told i could collect it on monday. few hours later i was told first that there was water damage in the phone and that i would not be able to take up the offer unless they restored it to OEM specifications. I told them that the motherboard was working fine and only wanted to change the screen to which they said no. I got a call a few minutes later saying that it was not water damaged but the water indicators inside the phone were gone because it had been opened by someone else. Expressed my dissatisfaction to the attendant who said they couldn't help me and to collect my phone….

        Its absolutely ridiculous.

        1) Its like taking your car for a service and if they note 4 things need doing, and you opt for 1 of those things to be replaced, they will only do 1. I dont see how this was any different.

        2) the phone is out of warranty so i can take it to any service center i want.

I just put it down to a poorly executed promotion.

        • That in my eyes makes this neg worthy - this wasn't a warrantee repair.

        • +1

I've finally received my note 3. Whilst the quality of repair was fantastic, customer service was very mediocre and definitely needed improvement. I got the feeling the people there didn't really understand their products themselves.

In the end I did get my note the way I wanted it. Screen was no longer delaminating and frame replaced. Whilst it was good value for $55, I couldn't be bothered arguing with staff over under warranty repairs. This phone I took in was 11 months old with the screen delaminating from the glass. Staff beliveed the issue is caused by abuse. But I can tell you if you look online other people have exactly the same issue and repaired under warranty. It is a design fault with the note 3. My glass would of shattered if it was abused the way the Tech explained.
          After owning an s3 4g, note1, Galaxy j, note 3, tab 10 3G, note 10 2014 4g I can't see myself going the Samsung name again.

        • Rxjb,

I feel for you. That's dodgy.. Usually you can tell from water damage by the indicators without taking it apart. Although there are water damage indicators internally too.

Samsung should of honoured the screen replacement in my opinion. It's just bad publicity for them.

        • @dtnvong:

Thanks. its currently with their social media team. Lets see what they can do.

    • Then you didn't read the T&C regarding unauthorised repair, apple would do the same.

      • They didn't advertise the T&C let alone mention them to me when i said i wanted to take up their screen replacement offer.

  • Got my mums gs3 and my gs4 fixed today

Firstly atleast for me the service was great samsung staff were very friendly and patient
On my gs4 they replaced my screen, new brezel and even wacked on a screen protector! Not bad for $55
And my mums gs3 the screen and brezel were replaced, no screen protector though
    For Future reference
    -they only accept Australian models
-if you have had your screen replaced non genuinely in the past they won't accept
-your data has a good chance of being erased as my gs4 came with a factory reset and mums gs3 came excatly how it was im not sure why but maybe because i had samsung knox enabled on my phone, but next time (if there is a next time) you should definitely back up before going.

    • I think they'll only reset if they cant access the phone or other things are found to be broken, they do ask for the lock screen password in order to run the diagnostics on the screen. I had mine and my brother's S4 come back as it was pre-repair.

My phone didn't have the gorilla glass attached and the home button missing (burned the oled trying to diy glass+loca glue) and they replaced it no questions asked, just warned me that if the mobo was broken, then it would be of extra cost. Took about 4 hours.

    • Lucky you, mine still hasn't been returned to me yet. Hopefully Monday, today they said they had a lot to do and the same eta as on Saturday "24-48" hrs.

  • Guess what guys I just realised my S3 no longer detects Sim card after getting serviced replaced screen

    • Lol. Time for you to buy a new phone.

      • After screen replaced the SIM card no longer recognised

I'm now trying to get this sorted and its causing lots of drama.

The phone is no longer usable, everything is NO SERVICE.

No one picks up the call @ George St, don't bother. I'm going ACCC for this one if they don't do anything.

Phone appears to have its IMEI changed, and its invalid for Australia region

    • My note 3 now no longer gets good reception.. Never get more than 2 bars anywhere. Usually it's on 1 bar.. I reken they were in a rush and didn't connect back the antenna! On Telstra with -107dBm 33asu. Meant to be better than -90dBm. I thought I was the only one with problems.. Lucky this is my backup backup phone.

      • I'm suspecting they short circuit something or didn't attach the antenna

  • Hi does anyone know how often these service days occur? If you do when will be the next one?
