What Free Stuff Do Tradies Want?

Ok this one is really for tradies.

I work at an insurance company for tradies and we're starting a forum for tradie related topics. We would like to incentivise participation in our forum…

I was in a meeting today and the idea of a carton of beer for the best forum post each week was offered.

What do you bargain hunters think of that? Would you participate if a carton was on offer?

(On a side note, can I offer a carton of beer legally?)

  • Tools.. or something similar that most tradies would use.. ie: ear muffs, tool box, grinders, levels, shorts etc etc.

  • Gift Card for Liquorland/Dan Murphys etc. Probably cheaper for you to obtain, cheaper to post to the winner, and that way the onus is on them to prove they're 18+.

Say a $40 Gift Card is enough for a good carton, or bottle of scotch etc

    • Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The postage for a carton would be worth more than the carton…

As a fellow Insurance industry employee looking for something similar in my area, I have shared your pain many many times, ended up settling for badged (your company logo) visa gift cards.
There's a few around but we used these (I am not associated with them)

    • This could be gold!

Beer for tradies from an insurance company? How about processing that work claim because guy was drunk at the job from alcohol supplied by the insurer… Ha ha.

Also I hate the association that because someone can swing a hammer they must like beer. As an ex tradie I saw a lot of guys get injured while drinking on the job.

    Gift card from Bunnings. Easy.

Bunnings or any hardware store is more relevant too.

    • I personally don't drink beer and I don't understand the appeal but as you can see from the poll, the stereotype seems to be accurate.

More people have asked for a hug than a Bunning voucher. Personally, I'd take the Bunnings voucher (I could spend a few grand there and I'm not even a tradie).

  • Discount on the insurance premium.

  • Voted for beer, just to mess around.

I do a lot of work for bookkeeping for tradies, get them a Masters/Bunnings gift card. Either that or a fuel gift card.

  • FYI this is going ahead. we've got 50 x $50 coles/myer vouchers (good at liquorland and 1st choice liquor) for the first 50 people to sign up and contribute. Check it out: https://www.alltrades.mycommunities.org/

    • Looks like you're over 50 contributions though :/

      • Nope… 41 so far

        • …and many of those are employees or admins and not eligible.

        • @kumilee:

Awesome, well I've started contributing :)
