Moving from Sydney to Austin, TX.
Looking for the cheapest (and reliable) moving company.
All I'm moving is a King Bed (& Base/Headboard) and maybe 4-5 medium sized boxes.
So far I've got a quote for $1500 for the bed and 2 boxes (2 cubic sq allowance) and a lead time of 16 weeks
Yeah that's why I'm looking for better options / lead times.
We may be able to get a temp one over there from someone we know.
Not sure what the resell value on beds are like and don't think we'd get anywhere near what we paid for it.

I agree, but with cost and hassle of shipping it to the USA, it's not really worth it.
That's a shame mate, hope it all works out for the best. Seems exciting nonetheless.
You are doing it wrong, why would you bother with the bed? Home goods like furniture and appliance are far cheaper in USA than Australia.
Re the boxes try sevenseasworldwide,.. We sent 2 30kg boxes to the UK for $159 (+ UK duty fees on the other side)…
Not sure about US prices but for the UK it's the cheapest we could find…. By a mile!
Note that stuff takes up to 3 months though, as it's sent via sea so not sure on how flexible you are from that point of view
Just curious what you plan to do without a bed for 4 months?
I would personally sell it and buy a new one over there - having said that a King bed isn't cheap.
