  • Whenever I see a knife deal like this I want to encourage people to try a Kiwi branded knife first instead. $5-10 each from your local Asian grocery store. Ridiculously sharp due to the thin blade, easy to sharpen and hold their edges well. I have bought more expensive German steel knife sets (e.g. Gordon Ramsay, Wusthof) and although the Kiwi knives do not look as good they function much better for a fraction of the cost. Only problem is no bread knife available

  • Baccarat is one of them brands that always seem to have between 60-90% off the RRP. They obviously are happy to sell little to no units at full price just to stay within the laws of trading, I find this sneaky.

  • I am planning to buy them but not sure if they are worth it.
I think I will hold off for now.

  • House and Robins Kitchen are one and the same owned by the Lew family. Baccarat is their own brand. Up until last year they had a wholesale division call Playcorp selling to all their competitors. They now only supply themselves.

They get around the trading laws by saying 60-90% off "RRP", which is a recommended, inflated price set by the wholesaler, in this case themselves, to allow the retailer, also themselves, to still obtain full margin by duping the consumer into thinking they're getting a bargain.

    • Thanks for the info. I will wait for any good offers on Mundail or Wusthof brand
