The Core books for the 5th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons currently 50% off from Amazon. (not sure how long sale lasts)

Core Books are The Player's Handbook, Monster Manual and The Dungeon Master's Guide

Latest version of the 40 year old Fantasy Tabletop Role Playing Game.

Most of the adventure/modules for the Tabletop game correspond with similar expansions for the Neverwinter CRPG MMO.

You really aren't a nerd if you haven't played D&D.

The latest 5th Edition was introduced in 2014 with the Player's Handbook coming out on August 19, 2014 and the Dungeon Master's Guide coming out December 9th.

The latest version has received many positive reviews

I cast Detect Bargain! … Success!

Roll for saving throw vs bargain … you failed to resist the bargain!

  • If you're a lowly player like me and only want the PHB then you can save a couple of bucks and grab it from The Book Depository

  • hmmm.. $116 USD (@$150 AUD) delivered for the three core books (Players, DM's and Monster Manual). Its "OK" considering I bought my mate Monster Manual (5th ed) in Sydney CBD for $60 AUD.

Is it possible to get loaded D4, D6, D8 and D20 dice?

    • -1

Wouldn't help if youre rolling for the monsters too ;)

    • +1

No, that would be a bad idea.

        From the description -

"Let's be clear here: when you use these dice to roll a D&D or Pathfinder character, you are cheating. Blatantly and flagrantly. There is no excuse for this, except possibly if your GM is evil and cheats as well, killing off characters unfairly, and using these loaded dice is just the next step in the escalation that will inevitably lead to rage-fueled table flipping, dice throwing, and eventual man-hugging as you become cool with each other again."

        lol.

        • If your DM is really that evil, then wtf are you still playing the game with them? :) Always an option to quit and play with others..

Can you play this exact thing, except online? For people who don't have nerd friends.

I know about sword coast legends but it's not out yet, and it's not the same thing I believe (only 6 classes).

    • There are websites that support it like Roll20 you can look at groups there..

    • I don't have it myself but I think Fantasy Grounds on Steam is made for online play with others and you can buy a module for it that has the D&D stuff. Their website also appears to have a 'looking for game' calendar where you can register for a group at a time of the week when you can play.

  • Don't forget dice! I recommend Artisan Dice for the most finely crafted die you shall ever own.

Also people can pick-up the Basic Rules for Dungeons & Dragons free on their home site. Currently they're having a sale, some of the books are more than 50% off.

All that said, D&D was for babies while the real gamers played GURPS or Shadowrun.

  • After adding in P&P, and currency differences, I actually found the Book Depository (www.bookdepository.com) to be cheaper. I want the three ancillary books "Rise of Tiamat" , "Hoard of the Dragon Queen", and "Princes of the Apocalypse". Price on Amazon including delivery was $128.12 AUD, whilst Book Depository (with free delivery) was $120.25.

Summoner is a great game but yeah a funny skit after you finish the game.
