I am using Huawei Y550 with Vodafone $50 prepaid sim. Despite 4G on, I am not experiencing very fast speed while uploading/downloading or browsing. I get 2-3 bars of 4g signal. My iphone 5 with Optus 3g is having same speed as Vodafone 4g.
Anyone having same issue? Can it be Vodafone or Huawei handset issue for me?

I live in Sydney and where I live and surrounding areas Vodafone coverage is way better then optus but still not comparable to telstra.
My y550 on Vodafone gets about 18 down with 2 bars. While optus in same unlocked phone with 2 bars 4g gets about 10 down max.
It all depends on where you are… just like good old tv reception, not rocket science.
(used to be with voda so have had the experience thanks.)
OP… Swap the sims if you think it is the phone.

10d/5u used to be better, I think the Voda network is being slammed again… might have to find somewhere else to switch to soon or suffer another Vodafail.

I got the 4G Vodafone speed on Ookla test as: Ping - 36 ms, Download -0.79 Mbps, Upload - 1.36 Mbps.
3G Optus speed is - Ping -89 ms, Download -4.00 Mbps, Upload - 1.09 Mbps.
I am in ACT.
I will try switching sim (Optus) with iPhone and then do the test again.
1 MB symmetric_u&d -27, sth SYD for me could not be better considered heavy lifting Voda does. Y550 hotspot to the OnePlus in worst context. Will quickly double in the outside & connecting direct/2000kBs.
I switched the sim in my iphone and sim is showing 3G only despite Voice and data on iphone is 4G. Note sure if any issues with Sim. I will contact Vodafone.
On 4g the best I've achieved on the Y550 was around 36 mb/s.
I had chat with Vodafone just now and after changing network settings to manual and restarting the iphone, it changed to 4g. the CSR told me that if 4G signal is weak then it defaults to 3G, which is my case. The max download speed I could get was 4 Mbps. North Canberra may not be good location for Vodafone 4G
recently I decided to go to Optus $2 days while I wait for Telstra to install phone lines on my street. Gotta say I am not overly impressed with the speed of Optus 4G network, speed test Vodafone = 68mbps Optus = 20mbps. Such a huge difference.
I downloaded the other night's one hour episode of qanda inside 60 seconds. VodLTE just flies. I think their free weekends campaign allowed them to provision bandwidth unlike their counterparts have done. ADM:— 224m | 5.61mB/s | 00:40
Vodafone and Optus use their own towers / transmitters.
Most likely your voda tower is a lot further away?
Voda usally have poorer coverage than optus anyway… they used to be called Vodafail..
We use the Y550 and G526 Huawei phones and reception is always as good as any other phone. (optus)
