Using replied paid envelops

Hey ozbargainers,

Just a quick question and thoughts from you guys to whether I can use postage replied paid envelopes sent to me from the bank and use them to send General mail to someone else other than the bank?

I don't think that works, as the address is where the postage is charged.

    • I thought so, but I remembered reading somewhere a while ago, (I could have been just dreaming) that someone was collecting these envelops and using them for free postage.

ohh wells, would be interesting if it worked though.

    Reply paid doesn't mean pre-paid.

    No you can't.

A reply paid address has specifically been set up with a reply paid number so that the postage is charged to the recipient for each piece of mail received.

The postage has not been paid on the envelope itself.

You can get any old envelope and address it to the reply paid number and it will work just the same. ING Direct gets you to do this to bank a cheque.

Australia Post may still deliver heaps of items that do not have any or enough stamps or postage paid. However it is dishonest.

If you use a replay paid envelope, with the receiver be able to find out who you are?

I get junk mail from Cash4Gold companies, or timeshare/pyramid schemers who want me to send them the mail with a form to register for a spot at one of their dodgy seminars. If I fill the envelope with massage parlour flyers and post it, can they track me down?

    • Hahahaha
