Metal Sponge Piece in My Food

Hey fellow bargainers

I've recently had dinner at an asian restaurant and took home some leftovers. When reheating the food again I found a broken off piece of metal sponge they use to wash their dishes and somehow ended up in my order. Is there a government body or association, similar to Fair Trade, that could be informed of the experience? Please take some time and help me make decisions.

Thank you, Davesaves.

    Call them first.

What do you want the outcome to be? You gave an option in the poll to sue them, have you actually considered that?!

  • meh, get over it and get on with your life

Speak to them, if you are not satisfied, vote with your feet. If you are still not willing to let it go at that point, post it on social media/review websites. It has happened to me once or twice. I can't remember which restaurant it was, probably because they are no longer in business. :)

I personally think suing is going too far. You probably should contact the shop so that they can be more careful with dishwashing and make sure this kind of thing never happens again, that is what I would do if I were you. If their response is not satisfying, further actions are an option.

Also, can you prove that the metal sponge is something that was from the restaurant? Not saying that you are a black consumer type, but I think if you were to sue, they'd consider that as a possibility as well. A person have never talked about this until he/she have returned to his place with the food, looks slightly shady (not suggesting that you are those type, but that can be what others might think) Unless you can prove that you've not implanted the metal sponge to get money from suing, I think there is a high chance that they 'd consider you as a black consumer.

From what I was told, lots of asian restaurants handle raw meat in the sink (like marinating) because of the large space, the same sink they use to wash dishes/woks.

Maybe you could have done something if you found it at the restaurant, but 1 day later at home, it would be impossible to pin it on them.

Just call the business you ate at and speak to them to let them know it happened, and move on. Unless you're angling to try to exploit money out of this situation (assuming you could prove that the metal object wasn't from your house), this is the only sensible solution.

Why on earth is there even a "Sue them" option in the poll?

People she people for anything these days. Like people were trying to sue Picquiao for not telling them he had a bad shoulder. That's what you get for betting

      • Wow… I'd completely missed that story… Just. Wow.
