better off buying the 5 litre bottle?

seems to be a pain disposing of so many 1 litre bottles

You must have a tiny Recycling Bin?

      • -1

Wtheck. U put these in your recycling bin? U nasty piece of work. U realize many Supercheap Auto have special bins for u to properly dispose of ur oil gunk. Let them deal with ur crap and don't just bin it in ur home bins.

I am referring to the empty bottles here!! obviously you would dispose of the oil in a special oil waste centre

        • @agentsabet:

Ironically if you think about it… the plastic bottles are also oil (mind blown)

        • @agentsabet:

as you will find most people dispose of their old oils by filling up the empty oil containers.Domestic use anyhow.

        • People always talk about recycling used oil, but what about used oil filters??? Where should i put them? Are they recyclable?

        • @chengjianer:

Usually drain, wrap in newspaper then garbage

          @chengjianer:

the oil recycling depot for Adelaidians has bins specifically for empty oil contaminated items… not sure what actually happens with them though

        • @kronicmacstigator: I wonder how much oil is required to make a litre of oil and a bottle and get it to your door ??????

Would these suitable for a Hynundai i20 ? And an old victa lawn mower ?

  • Could one use this oil on a road bike chain??? … (not a motor bike).

    • Surely a completely incorrect viscosity, but I could be wrong. (in other words way to thin to be effective but I'm not very knowledged on bikes)

    • +1

No. You want a wax type lube that doesn't pick up crud from the road. >90% of chain contamination is what the front wheel throws up. Engine oil is sticky which means it will quickly turn into a grinder and quickly chew out the chain, sprocket and crankset.

Use plain old wax, if you want one of the best, make your own for $30 using http://www.bikeradar.com/au/road/news/article/friction-facts… or if you feel like wasting money, buy a commercial bicycle chain lube. If you feel like throwing money away, use motor oil.

      • Thanks bm for your reference to the article - very informative - I appreciate it a lot … :-)

    • "oils aint oils" but I reckon its better than nothing

  • cheap looking at the RRP of 1L bottles but

    6L @ $35= ~$6/L

5L= ~$30, the same price as 5W-30 Edge on special if you can wait, this is ok if you are desperate

Quite liking the Nulon 5W30 i got on special in my car at the moment….. I have too much 5W30/40 Shell Helix Ultra, Castrol Edge in the garage =P

  • I could not pay with a discounted SCA gift card that I got from BigW; I paid with PayPal after multiple attempts. :<
