Suggestions for Expiring Microsoft Account Promotional Balance?

I've got under $30 Microsoft Currency that I'm having trouble deciding and also just trying to use in general.
95% sure that the credits came from when MS/Xbox changed from their points system to a currency service.

It expires at the end of this month and have looked for items, but nothing looks worth it.
Was thinking of possibly purchasing a gift card, but unsure if that also has a expiry on it.

Any good ideas on if anything is worth purchasing or any other way to increase the expiry?

The other thing was I was testing trying to use the credit, and actually accidentally purchased 1 month of xbox live gold for a month. (trying to rectify that now). But the main problem is each time I go to use the credit, it only allows me pay via PayPal and not use my credit (how I stuffed up in the first place)

I'd imagine I'm not the only one that got currency from the conversion? Anyone else having problems using it?

  • I always have problems spending the credit via the website like you described - it tries to charge credit card instead of using the credit. Buying on the console itself seems more successful.

  • Yep mine were expiring too. Can't help you with your problems unfortunately, but I tried contacting support to extend the expiry and they couldn't do anything to help, FYI. :(

I ended up buying Tetris on Xbox One. Ah well.

  • +1

I bought Dance Central Spotlight when it was half off last week, and then a bunch of old Rock Band DLC on 360 on the basis that they've promised it will carry across to RB4.

Rock Band songs (if they were released before Rock Band 3) for $1 each are a good way of topping off the odd amount. Listed below are my personal picks if I were in your shoes.

    Examples:

    • Bioshock Infinite and the Burial at Sea parts 1 and 2. Both parts go for $30 (or $20 each) as part of the Season Pass.
    • If you have The Beatles Rock Band, buy the whole album (Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road) for ~$16 each.
    • These Tom Clancy games for $10 each >>> http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-AU/Search?query=tom%20clancy&…
    • Snoop Dogg DLC for CoD: Ghosts for $6 (…okay, maybe not).
    • Minecraft, for the kids (if you have any) and 4-player player split-screen from the get-go - $20 I think.
