7-9 Inch Tablet for $150 - $300

Hello Ozbargainers,

I am looking for a tablet similar to Nexus 7(2013) for my sister (I am to understand they don't make them anymore?). She does a lot of travel and would like to watch movies on it, do general internet surfing and maybe a few games (not high performance gaming). GPS would also be useful.
- 7-9 inch
- Android (preference) or Windows
- $150-300 price range
- Preferably 2Gig or more RAM
- 32Gig or more storage (or expandable)
- Decent battery

Thanks for your help. Cheers!

Tab4 is probably the best option

1.5Gb ram, but I doubt you'll get 2Gb+ for the price.

New Tab A is about to come out, but quick look at specs sees more ram but lower screen resolution, for $50 more.

I personally think Samsung budget tablets are very expensive given their spec. Also Samsung has an awful awful reputation on software supports on their budget line and on tablet line.

In terms of bang for the buck, you cannot go past Chinese tablets, Teclast X89 has both Windows and Android, has 2GB RAM and usually they would fall under AUD $200~$300. The Atom CPU perform very well too. Though that being said, it's up to you to risk the DOA units and hassles with those Chinese retailers.

I personally recommend something that's in-between, even though it goes slightly over your budget, Asus MemoPad 8.

    1920 x 1200 IPS Screen with 2GB RAM + Atom Z3560 CPU + mSD card support

    Or this, Asus MemoPad 7

    Same spec as above.

Since tablets are not really up to date with specs most of the time, these would probably be above average in terms of spec at the very least.
