I've just noticed now that they have updated the declaration section
http://blog.coop.com.au/membership-cancellation-request/

Declaration: By submitting this form I am requesting a cancellation of my Co-op (University Co-operative Bookshop
Limited) membership. I understand that membership joining fee is non refundable.

What's going on here? Have anyone received their $20 cheque?

  • I received an email asking if I'd like a voucher instead but I ignored it as I thought the $20 would be better … But still nothing.

  • They've now got something on their web site about getting $25 back if you open an ME bank account, but that is from ME bank.

Also, the blog entry has mysteriously disappeared. Did you keep a copy of it (if they are playing games it might help us prove it if this ends up at a consumer tribunal or in court).

Legally, they can't unilaterally change the terms and conditions like you are suggesting they have - the terms of the contract when we took out our memberships was that the fees are refundable.

  • I also received the email offering a voucher instead, and responded saying I'd like the full refund please.
I received my cheque last week.
