Alternative to Apple's GE credit card

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for an alternative for Apple's offer that gives you 18 months 'interest free' on purchases.

My current computer stopped working recently and after I started looking for a new one, the iMac seems to be my current favourite but just a little too much to pay at once and still pay for other expenses.

I'm a student and earn 300-500 a week, so a monthly payment shouldn't be much of a problem, however there's a lot of negative reviews of the GE card that apple offers for their products.

Apple offers 6, 12 or 18 months of interest free on their products but charge a monthly admin fee, which adds extra costs on top of the price.

Are there any alternatives, especially for students to get the same product but without the monthly/yearly fees?

Looking to get either the 12 or 18 months offer.

  • Go with a reseller (JB Hifi, Harvey Norman, Dick Smith etc), they have financing that is not tied to Apple or GE.

    • All three have monthly fees/yearly fees.
Go card from HN is provided by GE

      • Apple's GE financing has a monthly fee ($4.95) too, that's $59.4 a year.

JB Hi Fi charges a $59 annual fee. Dick smith seems to be charging multiple fees (application, monthly and annually). Didn't know HN uses GE, thanks for letting me know.

Save up, or better still, find a second hand one on gumtree and pay cash.
    Don't enter the finance trap.

A personal loan from a bank? You'll need to pay interest, I'll leave it to you to determine what's cheaper. Nowhere will give you a loan without some sort of cost to you… lenders are here to make a buck, after all.

You could also look at refurbished models from apple or other secondhand places to bring down the initial cost.

You want interest free without fees? Why not just ask for a personal loan at 0 cost too?. Grow up.
