Dealerships & Websites. Where is good?

Been following the New vs Used car thread the whole week now.

I was wondering if people can point to specific dealers which they have dealt with and had a good experience and what they were buying, E.g. new or used?

A websites I've been floating around are carsales. Any others?

Also want to ask if Pickles Auction is considered respectable or is it up to the owner to do due diligence (as in do they do preliminary checks?)

Mainly looking at Toyota Corolla. Heard Manly had a good dealer. Any others?

  • Dealers cant list demo vehicles on Carsales (well at least most brands now). Manufacturers trying to avoid dutch auctions between dealers. For demos, you'll need to contact the dealers directly.

As with anything, service differs between customers. Main this is how you get treated when you walk in.

Oh and huge difference between new/demo/used/fleet vehicles, so work out which one you want ;)

The first job is one you must do. Figure out if you want new or used.
Do you have a trade in? If so then work out your happy change over price.
If you want new… search around and see what people got their for. Owners forums are good for that.
Work out the model accessories and price you would be happy to pay. Be ready to pay or commit and display this to the dealer to get the best deal they can offer.
Don't get sucked into buying paint protection and other similar useless rubbish.
Get a quote for insurance before you head out. You can activate the cover by a phone call from the car yard before you drive off.
Used..?? Auction?? Not recommended for people with no knowledge of cars at all. Stay away.

The best results are as a result of your research…
You may not get the best ever deal but the aim for most people is not to get totally ripped off… and that happens a lot. Effort = reward.
