Weekend getaway suggestions?

Hi guys,

As you may all know, there is a long weekend approaching and was thinking to take advantage of it, and go somewhere nice for the weekend.

I was thinking somewhere nice and beachy or country-ish, with a lot of green and stary nights. I'm situated in Sydney.

Any places/venues/locations you'd recommend, from experience etc?

Thank you :)

Maybe try Bega/Tilba Tilba area - green countryside but still kinda close to the beach too? It's about 4 hrs from Sydney.

  • Maybe change title to "Sydney - Weekend getaway suggestions?"

Also, do a google on sydney long weekend getaway… with every long weekend comes some 'news' site/blog post/travel site putting up their $0.02 on getaway ideas.

Also take accommodation in mind… most are probably booked up by now!

  • I took a couple of days off and am headed up to Port Douglas for 4 nights. But yeah for a short weekend north coast NSW. Interstate I like Hobart.

If you are looking for a Romantic getaway (No kids) then I highly recommend Eagle View Escape. The rooms are amazing, the view is memorising and service top notice. Couple that with the Jenolan caves, a trip around the Bathurst circuit and some wineries and you yourself a fun weekend.

    Malaysia?
Somewhere overseas but not too far away or expensive?

I love Port Stephens, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Yamba for a coastal getaway (depends how far you wish to travel, and do you have a car? This post assumes yes), you're probably better off heading north for warmth/better weather.

If you want to look at stars head west in the direction of Orange, Bathurst (gold mining history), Dubbo (zoo, wellington caves is on the way) etc. and outside of the main town. These places will have much less light pollution therefore x 10 better star gazing.
