TV recommendations (40-55inch), around the $500 mark.

Moved into new apartment, now our 32inch which was a perfect fit in our old place looks quite small, so looking for something a little bit bigger. Don't want to spend that much as it's not that much of an important purchase, used occasionally for FTA, Netflix and Xbox360. Currently using a Medion (ALDI) Tv that although has decent quality is really slow to respond and the whole interface is terrible to work with.

Any recommendations would be fantastic, was looking at Dicks current Ebay deal but don't know if its worth waiting out for EOFY sales.

Thanks

  • I'd wait for the EOFY sales, given that they're just around the corner and TVs always feature heavily in them.

Re an actual TV, I don't know much about the current TV market/prices etc., but I bought a "SONIQ" (unknown/generic-type brand) 42-inch TV around 7 years ago, which has had heavy use ever since. It has proved surprisingly good/reliable, is very user friendly/responsive, and 'gels' with everything else no worries. It was $600 back then, but no doubt you could get something like that for under $500 now. So maybe take a punt on the biggest SONIQ you can get for $500?

    • yep. with how disposable this technology is i would spend too much

as it stands i dont see huge value in a $500 brand name set… not interested in smart capability

my sub $300 DSE shitbox 40" set is probably one of the best tvs i've ever used, granted i mainly feed it console, HD/FHD material

cant see why you'd spend more

  • I am holding off another week or so to see if there's decent EOFY offers. I have no problem with the no name brands but in my experience the lag when gaming can be an issue with them which is the only reason I am waiting a little longer.
