Food Donations

Hi, I was thinking of buying around 40-50 Pizzas and donating them to a food shelter or an organisation that doesn't get supported by government.
Can anyone give me a list of non-for-profit organisations that are not funded by the government that give food to the less fortunate?
Thank you

Why Pizza? Why not just donate the money and they can then spend it on what is most beneficial.

    • I was thinking of making my own pizza through Dominos Mogul and buy a fair few and then I make money through that and then I'll donate that money as well

Yeah but they'd be able to supply a lot more food if you donated the money rather than pizza which isn't very filling and not very good value for money.
The idea sounds good but if your going to spend that much money you'd want it to go the best possibie use.

  • did you get the idea from here???

    • Well, it wasn't really my idea. It was a friends idea, now I know where he got it from.

      • don't let it discourage you, this ideas been done before but thats just because its a good idea.

I really like your idea of donating food to charity.

The only thing I would think about carefully was if I could provide a more nutritious meal than pizza. It depends on the quality of the pizza base and toppings too. Honestly, I find Dominoes really oily etc and don't think that would be healthy for someone who is at risk of bring malnourished.

But food is still food, so if it's the choice between pizza or no food, I'd still go with pizza…

Where in NSW are you so we can help you find some local NGO charities?

  • Pizza isn't healthy, and for many people going to a 'soup kitchen', it may be their only meal of the day.

Check out Sacred Heart Mission in St Kilda, but you should give them a call and organise any large food donation, as they may have the meal sorted for the day already.

    Good luck :)

  • Set up with your local Baker's Delight (they throw out/donate all of the left over bread as they bake fresh everyday) or something to come and collect the bread that is left over each day and take it to nominated charity. Some stores will already have an arrangement like this in place, some will not.
