Dick Smith - Shipping Items Individually

What is it with DSE now shipping out orders one by one.
The past 2 orders I have ordered have all be shipped as individual items.
The first order was 7 items and they came in over a 1 week period. The second order that I did on Monday has so far had 2 separate shipments for the 6 items.
All the items were in stock. While I am happy witht he price and I have only paid one shipping charge, the level of emails and SMS messages I receive are crazy.
I get a email and SMS when the order is ready, picked up and then delivered.

I cannot ever remember them shipping one at a time in the past orders, so I am wondering why they do it and also what sort of cost this must be for them to have a courier deliver each item.

    I had a similar experience, bought 3 battery Kaiser Bass banks from the DSE eBay store. Paid one shipping fee, but the items were shipped as individual packages.

    Caused confusion at the courier company causing two to be delivered and one being lost for a while and found on a shelf.

    Why DSE, why??

    Consider also the wasted packaging and associated environmental cost.

    its shipped from the stores that have the purchased item in stock.

      Yep that is what happened to my order. (was stock they were clearing tho.)

    Couple of reasons for this.

    1. Items come out from different stores, eg: if you order a TV and a few batteries, the batteries may come out from one store and the telly from another store. All depends who has what in stock.

    2. The online system used to (I think this may have changed in the last few weeks?) default to sending items individually, so if you ordered four remotes, the system would allocate one parcel/con-note for each. Consequently, if the staff member doesn't change what parcel items are allocated to, separate con-notes for items will be printed and that's the way we need to send them. Obviously not ideal because of the shipping/packaging costs and wastage but there's no way to edit it once the order's been fulfilled.

    So Today, I have had 4 separate courier deliveries. Still have 3 more to go.
    Crazy, as they are all individually wrapped in plastic and bubblewrap. Seems like such a stupid way to send out items.
