WARNING re Share Trading Investment SCAMs

In August 2013, a friend asked me about a Share Trading Investment, which upon basic research turned out to be a scam. In response and as a warning to others, I started a thread on Whirlpool titled 1Wealth is a SCAM. Since then, 1Wealth has morphed into other scams with different aliases such as OWS, GTA, Global Tech, GT Alliance, and more recently TRP. For a summary of known scam Aliases, refer to the list below.

TRP is an elaborate fraud that uses Share Trading Software to lure unsuspecting customers into a so-called "investment". The promoters of the investment scam promise enormous profits with very little effort, for people with no investment experience. The scam is backed by fake online awards and reviews that are heavily promoted (using paid advertisements) by the scammers so that they appear at the very top of internet search results (Google highlights these paid Ads with a yellow "Ad" icon).

The scammers even back up their ridiculous claims about enormous profits with a "Money Back Guarantee". Unfortunately as former customers have reported, the Money Back Guarantee is worthless — as it can only be claimed after 12 months of trading using the software, by which time the "business" would have closed and morphed into another scam with a brand new identity (leaving old phone numbers, email addresses and websites disconnected).

The typical cost for the sham Share Trading Software is about $19,400 (or $18,900) with an additional cost of about $1,349 for share price data downloads. But be warned, the scammers have accepted half payment up front ($9,700 or $9,450 with the rest deferred) in order to win over some "customers" who were showing reluctance.

More Info
For more detailed info, please refer to the Global Tech Scam thread on Whirlpool. The Global Tech Scam thread is currently the most active thread in the series, and contains the most up-to-date information about the scams, valuable feedback from readers caught up in the scams, and ideas about possible actions to recover money lost.

I'd expect OzBargainers to be wary of such scams, but if anyone you know has been contacted by TRP or its many aliases, then please get them to STOP all contact with the company …and then point them to this thread.

Under the law, there's a 10 day cooling off period for products bought via telemarketing, but unfortunately most people don't realise they've been scammed until much later:

      • Hi, thanks for your message. Think they JUST missed the calling off period, was bought around the 29th and we showed them the Whirlpool thread AFTER they bought it. I was alarmed to hear anyone was selling $20K trading software and a quick Google search uncovered people that have lost money. They are currently trying to get money back via their bank but do not like their chances.

  • My relative was recently scammed by a company called vcexhange - they take your money promising to trade in crypto and various robot trading programs. But when you want to withdraw money it becomes impossible. Be careful .
I think they are based in the UK, they ring you from numerous worldwide numbers but there is no way for you to ring them.
