Networking question - help pls

Hi, thanks for looking.

On ADSL2 service, my modem (TP Link Archer D9) is at one end of the house. WIFI coverage at the other end is pretty bad. I just gotten a cabler to run a physical CAT5e point from the modem to the other end of the house.

Objective: Want to have WIFI coverage on the "blind" end of the house. Utilise the physical cable to link up to the main modem, rather than WIFI repeater or those Powerline.

Question: What type of equipment do I need? Pls recommend TP Link products as I hope to maintain consistency.

Many thanks!

    • Thanks. The one you recommended is good and cheap!

Btw what's does an Archer C9 do? Is it relevant to my needs?

  • Sorry, just so I don't confuse myself… AC is faster WIFI speed than wireless N? Can an AC router be used as a WAP? Saw MSY has the Archer C5 for $119.

      • Agreed. You may as well future proof yourself.

        Get AC equipment

    • AC is (roughly) 2 or 3 times faster than wireless N.

Any router can be configured as a WAP, you just need to set it to act like one. There's heaps of guides online you can follow (e.g http://www.tp-link.com.au/article/?faqid=417 )

  • I'm looking at similar in our home. I only just bought a new router as the old one doesn't talk to the internet anymore, but still works for wifi and as a router. Apparently I can configure them to work together by following the setup instructions so will be doing that rather than buying a new repeater.

  • Thanks all!
