Eastbay Sports 20% and 30% off Plus $20 from PayPal - not working?

I followed this post (scubacoles on 23/10/2009 - 08:56 (www.eastbay.com) ). I used the 20% coupon code given in the post and got the discount upfront. But I never received the $20 rebate from PayPal. When I emailed PayPal and Eastbay about the rebate they said because I already received the 20% discount so they would not give me the $20 rebate as promised.

If what they told me was true the post was then a mislead? I'm sure I am not the only one who has bought stuff because of the above deal/post. Just wondering if anyone else has got their PayPal rebate or can suggest me what to do?

    From memory, the Paypal rebate wasn't due to be paid until 4th December. So you may still get it.

    There is no mention in the terms and conditions (http://www.paypal-offers.com.au/shopoverseas/terms.html) that gaining extra discount would affect the payment
    BUT
    "# PayPal reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify part or the Offer at any time without notice, for any reason in its sole discretion. The Offer cannot be resold or transferred. No cash alternatives or prizes will be substituted. "

    it would seem they may have taken up that right..
    BUT althought I didn't end up taking advantage of my own deal (some items unavailable), but I have bought elsewhere using that same offer without discount codes and I haven't seen any money yet either.

    Hmm, i'm in the same boat (albiet on different offer); still waiting on a couple of lots of $20 from some Book Depository orders i put through PayPal during that batch of deals. Strictly speaking rebate says 'by December 4th', which suggests to me end of Dec 3 at the latest (ie. before Dec 4), but i'll give them the rest of today in case…

    Better not fob me off on Book Depository if it doesn't come - already confirmed they know/knew nothing about the offer.

    I've got nothing as of Dec04. Been emailing both Eastbay and PayPal and no one even replies to me now. Can't trust those rebates.

    Giving them a call; will let you know what i find out.

    (ed: update) Well.. They're now saying '4 to 6 weeks from time of purchase'. Seems to be completely at odds with their terms and conditions on the offer, so dodgy as hell, but that's what the girl - after an infinite time on hold - told me. Sure enough, they were (largely) putting it back on the merchant, to (Book Dep in my case).

    Just have to see if anything comes in next week or two. I guess the upside is, if they're to be believed, there's still a chance it might come…
