I don't think there will be any sale fares as that is peak season. Might be better to book sooner rather than later.
Looks like JQ201 overnight on 27th December is $239 excluding a bag.
Then according to www.cheapoair.com you can come back on 8 January on LAN Airlines for $204 AUD which may include a bag? Or apparently the same flight on January 6th is only $144 AUD !
=$450 return but you might need to make two separate one way bookings. Prices can change all the time.
