    http://switchon.vic.gov.au/ for electricity

This has every retaillers pricing in it, get your smart meter data from your provider (instructions on the site), plug them into this site and it will tell you, based on your last year of usage, who is cheapest.

This includes all their various plans and deals.

Sounds like usage only. Not whole bill or supply charge (as I have from Lumo).

    • Yep, just got off the phone with them and can confirm no discounts on supply charge.

    Powershop still the cheapest, no?

    • Yeah I think so, my peak is 24.5c/Kw & no supply charge.

      • Your supply charge is built into your kWh rate. But if that's still cheaper than competitors, then you're way in front!

    • Yes, still cheapest. Don't forget $75 referral credits: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/powershop_referral_links

    • Nope, not in my area (& usage profile). SwitchOn said Simply Energy was the cheapest.

I think that's why energy deals don't do so well on OzBargain, they are usually state, network area & usage profile specific.

  • And doesn't appear to apply to TOU Flexi Saver.

It's always "usage only" on the discounts for Energy Aust.
Also, which wholesale supplier were you referring to? (CitiPower, Jemena, AusNet, etc.) Those look more like post-discount prices (for both power & gas).
Lastly - beware for gas pricing, you list winter months "peak" gas as May-Oct, whereas most other companies do June-Sept.

Always best to shop around for personal prices based on usage. Take your usage from your last few bills & work out what the pricing would be under new suppliers.

Regardless, still cheaper with Red Energy for me ($0.198/kWh, $1.099/day).

    • Thanks for pointing our these points.
Yes, I reckon most companies are discount on "usage only". I checked AGL is the same.
The rate was copied from energy Australia. The electricity pricing is for AusNet. I'm not sure if it's post-discount.

  • Currently getting 35% off for electricity and 25% for Gas via AGL which was only offered after I phoned a couple of months ago looking for a better deal. I have not seen this on their website so worth talking to your current retailer if you don't want the hassle of setting up a new account with someone else.

  • Wish I had these sort of prices available to me.
    Ripped off here in SA

Origin Energy is the way to go..

  • I've just signed up with powershop, my average price is about 19c per kilowatt which is pretty great - that INCLUDES the service charge to the property.
My old boss talked me into it, we were with momentum before, who were also exceptionally cheap. (He got $75 credit for signing me up, I got $75 for signing up)

Powershop is the one with the app on Android / iOS and you can view your usage only a day after it happens.

    Mod: Removed referral comment.

      • Yeah Powershop way ahead of these old players.

Would never go back to them and their bogus discounts including connection costs.

  • Is this what 'competition' is over east? So glad our power utility is still government owned if this is the sort of prices we have to look forward to.

Supply charge: cents per day 45.1516
Supply charge for additional homes*: cents per day 35.0581
    Electricity charge 24.5961 c/KWh

And here I thought we paid a lot over here!

  • Market or Regulated Rates?

Regulated Rates are usually 50% cheaper than the Market Rates which they provide the discount on…
