Im wondering whether i should quickly grab the PS4 bundle from BigW

Could I tempt you with the thought of getting a PC?

    • haha no sorry, im more of a person that likes to sit on a couch & play on a TV

        • It's just not the same some people (we) prefer consoles over pc

        • @CrazyMexican: No harm in asking, right?

        • @CrazyMexican:
no one prefers playing on consoles. It's simply a matter of budget. You can sit on the couch and play your PC if you want.

        • @bonesjonez: wrong I have the money to buy a gaming computer but I won't do so because not interested in playing on pc/laptop…

        • But A) You can buy a controller for PC
          B) You can set up your PC in the lounge room/big tv, and you can play on the big TV through the magic of HDMI.
          C) Steam (and other platforms) have an infinitely larger catalog of games, including unique couch-gaming multiplayer experiences.
          D) Don't have to pay for online
          E) It can be used for things other than videogames

And these are five points from a console gamer. A PC can be set up so that it's absolutely identical to playing on a console, with heaps of extra positives.

        • @bonesjonez: Wrong. I'm far from hard up for cash, haven't been that way for a long time. I have a gaming PC, I use it, just got off from playing some FO NV but I much prefer to use a console and always have. I don't want a PC in my living room, nor do I want to have to mess around syncing a controller (for some reason I always have to sync my 360 controller every time I fire up my PC) I tried to mainly use my PC towards the end of the PS3 cycle as it started struggling to play newer titles and for a while I enjoyed it enough and built up a library of 200+ on Steam but I found many games that are supposed to work in Big Screen mode on Steam were buggy and meant I had to go back to my kb/m to get them working right. Hell CS Go I had to manually add a line of code to fix the controller every time I wanted to play. I'm much happier just using my PS4 when I want to play a new game. If I want to play a game that suits mods I go back to my PC.

@Where's_That_Cake: Who on Earth plays CS:GO with a controller?

        • @rhz: People who prefer them? I showed a few mates who had your same opinion why they shouldn't be so quick to judge as well. Whack up the sensitivity and a steady hand and a controller is not than sufficient to be competitive.
Side stepping the issue here though. Big Screen is a great idea that has never been finished off right.

my thought is how big of a gamer are you?
if you haven't got one yet chances are you may be not that big on games
I went through a similar situation with the PS3 now its just collecting dust
see if you are going to use it well then grab it now else wait for E3 there will be new games and cheaper price then

i had a PS3 at the beginning of the year, sold it to get a PS4, but then i told myself I would wait until the end of this year & focus on year 12 before getting one. although im not doing overly good in school so i want to pick one up haha. im thinking I've waited this long.. may as well wait another 2-3 weeks.

      • +10

Year 12 isn't over yet, it's just started. Stay focussed on school and you can really turn it around!!

Year 12 isn't easy, it's all part if the challenge. Do find ways of relaxing though - something that can be easily time limited like exercise… The difficulty with gaming is being able to stop…

Good luck! There's still lots of time and all the potential - stay focussed!

      • Why sell a PS3 to get a PS4? See, this is the logic that doesn't make any sense to me.

If the PS4 was backwards compatible, then fine, the PS4 could play all your PS3 games (including hundreds of amazing exclusives) so you've no reason to keep it. But you're selling a console that stands alone with hundreds of games to buy a console that prioritizes graphics over gameplay that can't play all your fantastic PS3 games. But it's okay! Because you can just BUY the inevitable PS4 remake version of God of War (and infinite more examples) for 80 dollars on PS4 late this year when I can buy the trilogy on PS3 for 20 bucks pre-owned.

        • most of my mates from ps3 moved to ps4.. i'm not going to play by myself on ps3 hahaha

        • +1

@jus: Why not? There are hundreds of absolutely fantastic singleplayer experiences on the console. The Last of Us, Uncharted series, Infamous, Ratchet and Clank, God of War. I could keep going. Not to mention fantastic multiplatform games like Bayonetta. All games that are simply amazing. You're getting a PS4 for what? The multiplayer experience of 'drive club', a racing game only famous in how mediocre it is? Or you could always play a really good singleplayer game on the Ps4, like Order 1886………. Oh no…. OH NO! http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/the-order-1886

          OR KNACK! http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/knack

    Wait

  • regret not jumping on the Dick Smith ebay deal a little while back

    • Yeah wait until you find a better deal … Anything that makes the ps4 console around 400 at most

  • Yes, but as advised just wait until another ~$400 deal drops.

  • +2

If you don't have the cheddar to drop on a gaming PC, then wait for a sub $400 price for a PS4. If Fallout 4 is released this year, then buy one. If it's next year, buy it then.

Fallout 4….om nom nom nom. Delicious.

  • at that price no way.
    be patient.

  • +2

    No.

  • Yes, but try and get it for sub $400, it's been sub $400 many times in the past, grab it then.

It's absolutely worth it. Gaming PCs are a hassle, PS4 is simple and a hell of a lot of fun and value for the price. Plus it will always look better than a gaming pc

Plus it will always look better than a gaming pc

      HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

      • the machine fool, not the graphics. i think that was pretty obvious

        • Gaming PC's are cool though! Some of them have flashy internal lights! And considering people only buy PS4's and Xbones for graphics, flashy lights should distract them long enough to make the $1500+ absolutely worth it for them!

I would get a second hand psp/wii now to hold me over, and wait for a good deal on ps4

If you aren't going to play Bloodborne or Infamous both religiously, there's absolutely no reason to think about buying a PS4. Check back in 2017 when it has 4 exclusive games.

  • +3

I don't need this to turn into a debate of ps4 vs pc or that i shouldn't buy the ps4 because there are no games.
I just wanted to know whether i should wait until after e3 in case of any price drop or even upgraded console or if i should not waste my time.

    • E3 normally has price drops, or obscene amounts of games in a bundle for regular price. If there is a clear winner of the big 3 (which there normally is), their current console normally has a rather hefty discount ready for all the excitement.

So yeah. It's only a week now. Not that long to wait. But definitely don't buy now, for multiple reasons.

I bought one from a Target sale just to play Kingdom Hearts 3. Haha.

    • +1

it was worth it just for PT

  • Watch E3 2015 ….. most games were shown on Ps4… DROOL!!! i watch Ea Press conference and the nest Day I bought a PS4.

  • My strategy is to always go 1 gen older consoles. I've been stocking up on cheap PS3 games and slowly playing through them. I'd get a PS4 maybe a couple years later once PS5 comes out and PS4 console and games becomes bargain bin items.

    • Why bother getting a PS4 then? If they keep up the current trend, you'll just need to buy a PS5 and you can buy all the PS4 games on there when they remake them for PS5. Of course, they'll only be re-remade PS3 games, but still!

Trolling aside, EB is having a sale now where a lot of fantastic mid-to-late PS3 era games are anywhere for $9-$19, and these are great prices for some really good games, so Arislan has the strategy right.

      • Yea, I've been stocking some of them from eb games. And you're right I might not buy PS4 if there's no games I want nor even a PS5. The point was if i wanted a console because it has games I wanted, I won't buy them at the just released prices and typically wait till it drops into the bargain bin and that typically happens when the next gen comes out.

Some folks evolved to only be able to live if they have the latest and greatest and most number of polygons on screens at ultra high frame-rate. I'm not that type. I can keep myself busy playing all the bargain bin games of the previous gen with lower graphics quality. In fact, now and again i play some of my favorite sega saturn games on emulator =)
