Pressure cooking!

Since the untimely demise of my beloved slow cooker (thank you darling wife for dropping the ceramic pot =( ) we have as of last week invested in a pressure/slow/rice cooker multi unit!

I've done some tests with the pressure cooker, the latest being cooking chicken last night which took about 10 minutes and turned out perfect :)

I'm wondering if you guys have any pressure cooking resources/cookbooks/sites you use though? It seems a pretty complicated thing, and obviously very different preparation of food to slow cooking.

Any tips would be welcome :)

I super love my tefal electric pressure cooker! Risotto is amazing and my 14 year old can do it from prep to finish. Even pulled pork dishes took less than an hour, I cook all soup, stew, curry in it.

  • Hello! To those who have the red baccarat.. Can I ask if it's hard to maintain? Cook stains? Do u reckon the paint will come off in d long run? About to buy it and can't decide on colour!

  • Hello!

To those who have the red baccarat, is it hard to maintain? How about cooking / food stains? Hard to wash? About to buy it, and just wanna be sure! Thx!

    • I don't - but as it's not stainless it will discolour, as any painted surface will near heat - and chip sometime being in a kitchen.

I believe it has two short handles both sides too. Having owned two different pressure cookers with one short, and one long handle (like a typical saucepan), we found them easier to carry, empty, and wash up - with the longer handle on one side.

Your hands are too close to the hot side with two short handles. You can also carry a PC with one long handle 'differently' (hard to explain - but further away from you), so less chance of getting burns elsewhere too.

To empty a long handled one, means you can do it one handed - as there's less weight in the pot. With two short handles… I just think it's a risk of tipping hot food on yourself, that's all.

Washing up - same kind of thing… Long handle = more/easier grip. But depends how you put it in the sink I guess.

  • I can get whole chickens $3.90, if I put two in the pressure cooker, how long would it take to cook?

  • Used this for my Risoto too, trying for some apknite porigde recipe cooking. This is helpful.
