Wetsuits for The Family. What to Get? Where Are The Bargains?

Looking to buy wetsuits for the family to go frolicking in the water with the kids. The temperature (not the water) is around 22 tops during the day so its going to be a bit cold in the water.

I'm hoping to get some advice from the community on what and where to buy wetsuits. We are not going to live in it so I don't need it to last a life time. I have looked at the rental option and they are about $50 per person for the week so I'm looking for something comparable to that. I am open to spending a bit more to own some so we can use them again.

We have got some cheap ones through Quicksilver and Surfstitch sales.

  • did you use them in the colder weathers? how did you find them?

You need to do your research, there are different wetsuits for different climates and weather. There are different wetsuits for different sports also. When you can work out what you need you can go to the sale pages and sometimes you will find a suitable wetsuit on sale. Alternatively Osmosis & Target have cheap kids wetsuits with short arms and legs, I'm not sure about adults. Aldi sell them too but just before summer. Crane is also a less expensive brand. You can pick up cheap second hand ones on eBay but beware they are cheap because most people urinate in their wetsuits when they wear them, also they tend to deteriorate as they get used and get older so can become more difficult to put on and take off.

    • If you're after no frills, there are cheapies at sportsdirect

  • Depending if you want steamers or springsuits… Try vault2u.com manta bodyboard company out of NSW. I have both steamer n springsuit n use them all year round n for the price they do a quality job.

  • Thanks, I'll check out those sites… I may steer away from the 2nd hand option ….

The most I want to do in them is to go scooba diving.
