How Do We Use Deals Site These Days?

My observation of the deals site is that it's a dwindling industry.
The many players are consolidating - the last one being Living Social acquisition by Aussie Commerce.

I also think it's probably to do how we generally are bored of the hype, or perceive them quite negatively (the spam, the irrelevance, the unsustainable practice for the merchants etc).

Nonetheless, I think the industry is in the process of evolving into a more refined marketing platform e.g. more local, more sustainable practice for merchants, tightening of regulation for dodgy practices etc

Just a general poll/discussion on where we as consumers are at, in terms of mindset.

Used to use them a fair bit. The quality of the deals has gone down last couple of years. Now I only really use Groupon or LivingSocial when there are 15% off codes for good quality restaurants. The only other site I use these days is TravelZoo who only have a couple of local deals a week. Usually they are higher quality.

    • I haven't heard of them before. I see your point.
Seems they source the deals themselves - hence the better quality deals.

      Thanks for the tips!
