Help! How to setup Belong modem with TPG

Please help as I'm a complete novice at this!

I recently ordered Belong home phone and adsl2+ with free modem and activation only for them to contact and say they did not have any available ADSL2+ ports available so I cancelled but already had the free modem. I then ordered TPG which is apparently installed, however after hours of googling/awaiting a TPG support team call back I still have no idea how to use/setup the Belong modem with TPG.

I have setup according to the belong instructions ie plugged into the mains and wall but have no DSL light…what next???

Please help??

Your Belong modem is pre-configured with your Belong account user name and password. You need to configure the modem for use with TPG by logging into the configuration web page and then setting it up all over again this time using TPG logins.

TPG ADSL2+ Settings are as follows. Many of these options, asides from the ADSL Username and Password, can usually be just left in the default 'automatic' mode as the ADSL modem can figure it out on it's own

    ADSL Username Your TPG Username
    ADSL Password Your TPG Password
    Encapsulation PPPoE LLC
    Authentication Method PAP
    Modulation ADSL2+
    VPI/VCI 8 / 35

In case you don't know how to get to your modem's configuration page to enter the TPG settings, you type http://10.0.0.138 in your web browser

If you have the Sagemcom F@st 4315 it appears there will be login details for the configuration page on the back of the modem itself

Also make sure the phone line you're plugging the modem into is good - I couldnt figure out why my connection wasn't working in my new place, and it turns out that particular socket was bad. I plugged it into a different one and it started working.

  • Thanks for your helpful advice… unfortunately Ive been still unable to connect, after a technician has visited and fixed the connection and many phone calls, TPG are saying my Belong Sagemcom F@st 4315 needs to be reset and unlocked, for which I called sagemcom as suggested by TPG and they do not support that modem!….has anyone else had this problem or any suggestions?

The "free" modem seems more hassle than its worth!!
    Thanks :)

  • hi ozbargainers, i have a very similar experience on connecting my modem, any luck with you @kellymarie83?

so far i have found that belong pre-programmed the modem so that the username "admin" with "Belong" as a password has no authority to modify any details such as DNS and basic settings.. tried doing the factory reset but just would not budge.. any help would be much appreciated..

Maybe it's just locked to Belong?

      • yeah but is there such thing as locking a modem, did call belong and they said should not be locked. anyway if u can jailbreak a phone I reckon you can jailbreak anything right?

  • I think it was just locked to belong. I ended up getting a 450 modem from officeworks… not very oz bargain but wish i'd done it in the first place instead of the hassle and wasted time! Hope you had better luck!
