Xiaomi Portable Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 Speaker AU $29.30 (67% off) @ Allbuy

71

Not sure of the quality, but Xiaomi's in ear headphones are great so maybe these are too?

The only info I could find online were from an older model, this one seems like a good deal.

Anyone have any experience with it?

How does this compare with UE Boom and Bose soundlink mini in terms of sound quality?

This speaker only came out very, very recently so there's not too much info out there.

I did a quick search and found two reviews, Fudzilla and Home Theatre Life. Both mention that the audio and build quality are quite reasonable, and that it is pretty good value for money. No bells and whistles- just a plain bluetooth speaker.

Some pros and cons they list:

    Pros
    - Excellent build quality and design
    - Good audio quality, two drivers
    - Compact size (for a stereo unit)
    - Value for money
    - Bluetooth 4.0

    Cons
    - No 3.5mm input
    - No playback controls/microphone on device

Given the size of it's two drivers (1.8W) and it's overall size, I wouldn't think it's competition to the UE Boom, BOSE Soundlink Mini or Sony SRS-X3. I'd say it's more in the realm of the UE Boom Mini which retails for $85 at JB Hifi.

Just 89RMB in Xiaomi official website, less than 20 AUD, i am really curious how the 67% discount come from

Probably "their price". That being said, unless you know someone in China and unless you know how to get the legit one, it's hard to get your hands on them. My gf who speaks fluent Chinese (she's bilingual), who lived in Shanghai for a year still failed to get an authentic Xiaomi product in China. I personally sit on those high profit margin that they put on since 1. even at that high price they are usually cheaper than the alternatives in Australia, 2. I cannot get my hands on them otherwise.

I seriously hope to see Xiaomi store opening in Australia (they've opened one up or was planning on opening one in US for all the accessories that they are releasing).

      • Does that mean this one has a high potential of bring a fake?

These retailers care about, at least as far as I see, their reputation. They are likely to not sell a fake.

  • Sorry OP. - this is not a bargain/deal.

Same item is cheaper at GearBest.com as reported first by johnn.

However, perhaps the ALLBUY rep will intervene and reduce their price to slightly better than the one at GearBest ?

I'm finding myself with more and more Xiaomi products. First it was the USB battery packs, then a USB light, got some of the headphones for a family member, and was considering the Yi for a helmet cam (probably go for a SJ5000 however)…

Really liking the products these guys are releasing, they must have an excellent design team.
