Bridgestone Tyres Offers - 4 For Price of 3 (Ecopia/SUV tyres)

120

Seems like it's this all over again.

Probably a good time for me to change..

Anyone done it with them before? Do other places do it slightly cheaper even with this?

  • In fact, can someone give me some advice? I'm currently using Ecopia 150s 195/60/16 (I believe they came with the car), and was offered the same tyres for about ~$120 + ~$75 for alignment when I got it serviced but turned it down because I was waiting for one of these.

I drive a Nissan Pulsar 2013 Sedan. 99% urban driving (less than 50km at a time). I'm after fuel economy, durability, quality.

    • -1

Is your car's alignment out? If not, don't let them touch the alignment.

Regarding the fuel economy, depends mostly on the driving style. Tyres do play a small part.

      • I don't know how to tell.. how can I test that?

Driving style? Slow and steady. I don't often go over the limit and am generally quite a "controlled" driver with turns.

      • -1

Agree with "ms", don't waste your money on an alignment if all is ok. Does it steer ok? Bashed any gutters hard? Tyres wearing ok? The car is only 2 y/o…

    • +2

Strange you don't list safety as your number one requirement. I disagree with ms, always get your alignment checked by a reputable suspension expert.

  • No they are the cheapest for Bridgestone, also check out their type warranty, costs nothing but i've used it twice and it saved me quite a bit :-)

  • +2

Shame they didn't include the Potenza's this time around…

  • Costco tyre guy at Northlakes said they offer free Nitrogen filling and ongoing free Nitrogen top-ups, as well as the usual free rotations etc. if buying a set of 4, so it could be worth checking their price. If you want to try a different brand, they have very competitive prices on Michelin tyres.

Who the hell goes and buys 4 tyres at a time ?

    • +2

      What's wrong with buying 4?

    • +4

Those of us that look after our tyres usually have them rotated, balanced and aligned by a suspension expert every 15k. This ensures even wear and longevity, hence the 4 tyres wear out at the same time. When the tyres cost $500 a corner, like mine, the extra $200 spent on maintenance is a good investment.

      • -4

Every 15k? Must be made of money or bash a lot of gutters…??
Our oldest car is over 8y/o (100k/k) and had its first w/a not long ago. Only got it done then because it was dirt cheap… Tyres lasted over 80k/k and steers perfect..
You can unnecessarily overdo some things… like someone recommended replacing wiper blades every 6 months?? Donate the $ to charity if you have too much of it .. :-)

I got four for the price of three last time - in my case I got the best price I could (found at Kmart of all places) and the local Bob Jane matched it. At the time the offer was available at Bridgestone stockists (not just the Bridgestone stores) so not sure if this is the case with this offer. The tyres themselves seem to be working fine on the wife's kiddie carrier. There's also a buy 4 for the price of 3 offer going for Continentals (eg http://www.bobjane.com.au/tyres/special-offers/continental-b…) until the end of this month. If you're happy with the Ecopias I'd stick with them, but if you're interested in changing then the equivalent in the Continentals is probably the "Comfort Contact 5" (aka 'CC5'). BJ's don't list a price for it in your size (http://www.bobjane.com.au/tyres/continental/conticomfortcont…) but I'd expect you should be able to get the four for around the same price.

It looks like Beuarepairs have buy 3 get one free for Dunlop as well if you want to shop around

If you're an RACV member you should be able to get 10% off as wekk

Ecopia, continental, dunlops… Which ones are better for a SUV?

    No Potenza RE003's?

It's not anything close to a deal without price!
Like 3 tyres for $900 each or $9000 each? How much?
It is misleading specially ozbargain readers, could be the most expensive rip off down your throat.
And they do this always and it only happens here with Bridgestone tyres! What's the catch?

    • +1

The price depends on which tyres you buy?! It's not that confusing…

      • -1

I know the trick mate, thanks for the effort!
        Leave us an example!
last time there was no help from the website, I called them, they said call your local dealer! I know what it means!

        • I know what it means too… call your local dealer and ask them for a price on the tyre you're after.

No need to neg the deal for these reasons…

    • Hm you know what.
I think you're "criticising" the wrong thing. Your issue is with the lack of detail. Lack of detail doesn't mean it's not a bargain.
For example, a title could be "iPhones on clearance @ Officeworks" (keeping in mind there are many variants of iPhones, e.g. iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 4S, etc.) So the title doesn't have a price.
On the website, it might also not have the price. It might just say "call for price".
Turns out they're selling iPhone 6s for $450. Bargain? I think so.

Now I would agree if the website had some prices and I didn't put any in the title then I could probably make it clearer by putting an example price of some of the tyres, but the fact is they don't.

That is the situation with this deal. It is literally call for price. I admit it would be unusual for iPhones to be sold at "call for price", but I don't think it's that unusual for tyres?

Having considered all the factors above, I don't agree with a neg but would understand and be more in agreement with a neutral (i.e. no vote).

      • You wouldn't be able to put a price on this deal anyway as all resellers will have them at different prices.

    • Hey pal, so if a Myers, Coles, Bunnings, etc. were giving 25% off of a range of products, would that be a deal?
Or should we be listing every nut and bolt they sell?

      • Hi Snoop,
don't be confused, thats totally different matter, having said that they always leave some examples in their title, but, the difference is, Myers, Coles, Bunnings, kmart, … are individual companies with all the prices clear and obvious around you wherever you shop, so you know xxx brand milk is $2 per litre, even you are in doubt follow the the link and see what is on offer and what is the price.
But these Guys always come up with that title, buy 3 get one!

what is the price? as much as the dealer can rip me off!
What is on special? whatever dealer likes!
Who is the dealer? whoever rips off better, pays this company better commission.

last time, again there was no help in the website, I called them, been told to call dealers! like this company is not supplying the product and don't know how much is their final price? then I called dealers, they didn't even wanted to tell the price, wanted me to go there!
how ridiculous is it? I went there to a few dealers and the different prices were as hideous as the deal itself, that I let go! but I will always neg their wrong misleading title!

Finally I don't mind your deal Mr Bridgestone, just give me your RRP!

        • Street price is more useful information than RRP. Next time find out what size tyres you need (e.g. 225/40/R17) and give a few places a call. If you know which model tyre you want even better.

        • @Evil-Elmo:
I know this, doesn't change the rip off story.
I didn't find any of these comments related to what that neg was for!
          These posts are misleading!
          The comments are sockpuppeting!

        • +1

          @pal:
Like Evil-Elmo said, RRP is a waste of time when it comes to tyres. There really is no such thing! Wholesalers use what they call a 'list price', but that's just used as a base to calculate the discount that the retailer gets.

To call up their service desks is also useless as most of them have probably never fitted a tyre in their lives and wouldn't even know what the correct fitments are if they're not listed in front of them. Also, different stores will receive different pricing structures, obviously based on things like unit turnover and location. The best advise for anyone to give really is to go and see the store!

If you're worried about the legitimacy of this Bridgestone deal, call up a Tyrepower, Jax, etc. and get a price from them to see how they compare. I think you'll be surprised!

        • @Snoop: I just refer you to my previous comments, specially the last one!

        • @pal:
I did have a long written explanation nullifying every one of your points… but then I accidentally hit the back button, deleted my comments, and now couldn't be fd retyping them!

But in short, you can refer me to whatever the f### you like. The fact of the matter is the title is spot on 'Buy 3 Get 1 Free'… and that's exactly what it is!
