TomTom Via 225 GPS Lifetime Map Updates

Hi All,

I saw a Tomtom Via 280 at TGG today for $148: http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/tom-tom-via-280-5-inches-gps-2…

Just wondering if I bought it today, does that mean I won't have any map updates as the Go series has been out for some time, and Via series might be classified as discontinued = End of its "Lifetime"?

The reasons why I don't want to move onto the Go series are:
1) The review are generally not very positive, especially for those who actually upgraded from the Via series
2) No bluetooth hands-free calling for cheaper models, which is kinda essential for us.

Can anyone shed some light for us please? :-)

No bluetooth hands-free calling for cheaper models, which is kinda essential for us.

Ever operated one of these setups? Horrible things! You're relying on the microphone of a device in the middle of your dash picking up your voice, and then it using an fm transmitter to put the call through a certain radio station that you have to tune to!

    And this:

Lifetime - this is the useful life of the device, which means the period of time that TomTom continues to support your device with software updates, services, content or accessories. A device will have reached the end of its life when none of these are available any more. The useful life of the smartphone app means the period of time that TomTom continues to support the app with updates.

So as long as accessories are sold you'll be ok. Even if it's discontinued, I'd expect to see updates for at least a year or 2 after
(Actually from reading it, I'd say as long as the maps/software can be updated and supported, the updates will be free)
