I've had this before and loved it!! A great price for a great wine.

It's a 2006 Bethany Reserve GR11 Shiraz and it usually sells for a fortune compared to this price

    Bought a box about 3 weeks back at this price.

    This is a great wine and unmatched at this price

    • Same here, if I hadn't just paid my tax bill yesterday I would have a huge shipment on its way to me just now

  • What does the bottle look like? Can someone send me a photo so i can confirm?

    • I'm away from home just now, sorry no pictures

        Ah forget it. I ordered it. $33.33 for a 2006 vintage is a bloody bargain.
        I used your referral link.

        • Cheers for that, I've noticed my credit balance has gone up by $75, cheers to the other people and enjoy the wine

        • @Dubbin: I used your referral link too :) Thanks for sharing.

        • @lycos:

    • Good '!' or bad '!'

      • For me its not a good or bad '!' its a great '!'!!!

  • as a true OZB'er, I'll ask can I get anything better or much better than this for same or cheaper price~!
    there're some new vintage 97 or 96 pts ones by more than one critique - ie Blackwell for $30.

    • The only reason I bought it is because this deal was posted last month and it went out of stock really quickly.

    • @jamesx if you are on about St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2012 James Halliday scored it 97pt but also 94pt and others have scored it 92pt.

      The Cellar-Tracker community have it at 92.6pt's

      see the reviews and accolades here:

      If you want to buy it the cheapest I have seen is $27.99 here:

      It will get better with age, but it does need cellaring, think of the 2006 Bethany Reserve GR11 Shiraz as a wine that has already been cellared and can be drunk now

      • The question is how well was it cellared? I bought a sixer from the previous VM offering, and had 2 bottles. It's okay. But not a $125 wine, and because it has cork it probably has to be drunk now, so I won't get more.

        It also only scored a few silver medals, and didn't set me world on fire. The Amelia Park Reserve Shiraz was much better, in my opinion, but this is also not too bad.

          I got 2 cases of the Amelia Park and my tastes must be different to you as it was not even close to 2006 Bethany, or as you said you might have got a badly stored case, mine was fine though

        • @Dubbin:

          How many years do you think I can cellar these bottles for? I don't plan on drinking it anytime soon.

        • @tendollar:

          Wine Companion says drink by 2016. Bethany website has it as ageing potential of 10-15 years. It's under cork, so not much longer. It may be drinkable for a while yet, but probably after it's peak window.

          @Dubbin:

          Oh make no mistake. It was still a nice drop. Just lacked a bit of oomph. I felt the 2010 AP Reserve had greater depth and complexity.

          @Dubbin:

          Agree with this. Its a much better drop than the Amelia Park and easily worth $80 a bottle. At $36 I just bought it again! (In hindsight I probably shouldn't have bought so much Wynns Black Label Shiraz)

    Yep, I took a punt on this one. Could be super value for a cellared wine. 2006 was a great year for Barossa Shiraz and I hope that it can stand up to a few more years of cellaring as well. Notes: http://wineco.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Bethany-GR11…

    This is an excellent price for some really fantastic wine.

    I actually bought 2 bottles of this vintage from the cellar door about 2 years ago and they were $75 each iirc. Drank both in the prior 12 months.

    Bethany Winery also do some really good port if you're ever in the region.

    • Good to know about the port, will have to pop in when i'm over next!

  • I knew it would go quick, that's it sold out now!!!
