Anyone Else Having Issues with PAYG ALDImobile?

Hi all,

After recently getting the $30 per mth for 8GB data plan from Vodafone, I jumped ship to using ALDImobile seeing as I don't use a lot of calls or sms. I purchased the nano sim starter kit with the $5 PAYG credit from their website.

After activating it, it found that after a few minutes, my $5 credit dropped to $3.55 but I have yet to use any SMS or calls (I've already disabled the mobile data a few weeks ago since I had the 8GB mobile broadband). I sent them a ticket on the website, when I went to check my credit again last night, it dropped further to $1.60, again I have not made any calls or SMS. When I got around to going onto their website this morning to update my ticket, the ticket was gone as well. I've since sent another one that is abit more strongly worded, seeing as what I wrote yesterday disappeared without a resolution from them…

My question to you guys is, has this happened to you? PAYG credits go missing for no reason? Do ALDImobile charge for sending support tickets on their site?

Cheers,

ProjectZero

  • Did you check if background date is turned on? I guess Aldi counts data in MB and this may be reason behind dropping value of credit.

  • +1

Background date? I have my mobile broadband connected at all times unless I am at home.

Also on the ALDI website it says I have no usage since it was activated.

    • I think he means background data. Given that your account shows you havent used anything, the charges are questionable - Aldi mobile best be answering this one.

      • Yeah, let's hope they do… I usually give a 5 working day response time, if they don't get back to me by next Monday I might escalate it or something.

  • Have you turned on location? Apparently they have a known issue with location which gets deducted from your data credit EVEN if you have turn data off!!

    • My GPS is permanently off unless I use google map, but that is a pretty weird bug if location data gets treated as mobile data lol…

  • maybe they have a voice or missed call service activated by default which is costing you $?

can't you view a list of call charges in your account?

  • Just an update on the situation… Apparently I made a ton of sms yesterday to my parents mobiles which I do not recall doing… I've only used whatsapp.

Not to mention 4 international sms to an unknown number… to which I have no records of either… strange, could this be some kind of virus on my phone?

    • Time to give it a hard reset and maybe some protection with Avast / Kaspersky,

      http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2014/07/beware-of-android-sms-w…

what were the contents of said SMS? Do your parents know about it?

      • lol… funny you should mention AVAST… just found out what that international number is… it was the AVAST antivirus sending them thinking my phone was missing… guess I will be getting rid of AVAST anti theft…

  • Alright everything seems to be solved now… i hope, guess I jumped the gun.

Lesson to be learnt here, turn off the sms to portal function of AVAST anti theft.

    Cheers for the help guys.
