Etihad Price Inconsistancy, Check Another Device before You Buy

My wife has been tracking flight prices for Melbourne to Dublin on Etihad after xmas, checking daily to find when they released their best deals. We need 2 adults and 3 kids, so it's expensive and normally anything under $7,500 is good.

Yesterday we saw flights for $7,800 on her tablet and decided we couldn't wait longer, so went upstairs to book them on the computer. On the computer (same network, same DNS) the same flights were $7,400. Checking on my tablet (Chrome, Android, same as hers) I also got the $7,400 price. When she searched again on her tablet and she still got $7,800.

Checking today she is now getting the $7,400 price on her tablet as well.

So if you're going to buy direct from Etihad check the same flights on another device first!

    It could be down to the different subclasses and availability within those. If someone doesn't complete their booking, those seats are freed up again.

    If had a similar issue with buying last minute flights through Qantas. I searched a few days prior to the flight leaving, checked a few hours later, it had gone up, then an hour later and had gone up further. Got my brother to check on the other side of town and he was getting the price I had first received that morning. Not sure if there is anything illegal or sinister going on but it felt like they were trying to take advantage of knowing I was obviously interested in that flight and kept raising the price in an attempt to lock me in asap. Would be interest to know of other peoples experiences like mine or the OPs.

    People, clear your browsers cookies every time you search for an airfare on an airline's site (and often on aggregator and general travel booking sites). Tracking is quite common, with prices increasing so as to instil FOMO on 'cheap' fares.

    Use Chrome and go incognito mode.

      I think this may be the most wife friendly solution.

      Jet star doesn't work in that mode. Doesn't allow you to select a destination….
