  • Found a review for it… didn't really read it myself, but according to the review it's a PLS, so slightly different panel compared to an IPS… not sure which is better though

    https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/samsung-s24d390hl/

    • That's not really a review but just information on the new monitors. I did a search for the previous D390 and it stands toe-to-toe with Dell's excellent U2414 in terms of image quality. Not saying that this new one will be as good as well though…

      EDIT
Yup you are right Samsung uses PLS in competition with LG's IPS. Will edit the title now. Thanks.

      • Wasn't saying that this is a bad monitor, just thought it might be better to distinguish that there may be a difference.

Also the site has specs and stuff, but if you scroll down more it does give a small review… or at least what the author's impression was.

        -edit-

nvm… just saw it was the d390 and not the e390… sorry.

      • I have both of them. The color on Dell is a little bit more vivid. And it has height, tilt, pivot adjustment. Samsung just has a tilt adjustment. If you only browse internet or for office use, the picture quality are similar.

        • The U2414h is twice the price (unless you wait for DFO which does rarely have these in stock). I myself am going back and forth about getting one or holding on for a Dell since I don't need it now.

        • @chewkl: You'd probably get better CS than if you bought it from JB… if you don't really need it now, I reckon you're better off waiting for a Dell sale.

    • PLS is Samsung's alternative to IPS.
      See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPS_panel#IPS_Alternative_Tech…

  • Be ware Disksmith's website list this model with photo of 590P. which is much more expensive.

  • Why do the first and third photos have different bezel widths?

I have bought one 2 weeks ago by $204. It is a new model. The bezel is like nested frames, which is not too wide or too narrow. I think it is quite good looking. The picture quality is much better than my 2 years old Dell P serial monitor. I felt it was worth what I have spent. I recommend it to anyone who need a new monitor.

Thanks. Seems reasonable and the kids needed a monitor so I got one.

  • My store has the D590 for $210. Which model is better?

    • +1

Don't know, but these pages seem to have the specs (the view can be expanded to show more specs):
      http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/pc-peripherals/monitor/st…
      http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/it/monitor/led-monitor/LS…

The 24D590 might be an older model as it has a D not E. The housing (including stand) looks the same shape as the 24E390, except the colour and finish materials of the 24D590 give it a more conservative business use look. The 24D590 has an extra HDMI input. There may be other differences in the specs.

The current $45 off deal has expired, but typically Dick Smith has been releasing "discounts" of this magnitude every week. However this deal also depended on having a reduction of the base price, which may not coincide again as quickly.

The 24D590 does not show up on the DSE website so the online discount code probably is not applicable for buying that monitor, unless you can use it to negotiate with your store. The 27D590 is on the website but that is a 27". $210 new would seem like a great deal if 27".

      • Thanks mate I appreciate that :).

Asked my store if they could do it any cheaper or match this deal but they said they can't as it is apparently a catalog special.
