E3 Autopsy

So E3 is well over so what is the outcome?

For me only Forza 6 I guess.

Everything is 2016+ or worse. Also everything is on PS4 or PC.

  • Batman AK
    Fallout 4
    Forza 6
Halo 5 (will wait first to see if multiplayer works)
Star Wars: Battlefront (same goes for this)
    MGS5

    Maybes:
Tomb Raider 2 - Delay the game to Jan 2016. Why release same day as Fallout 4?
Rock Band 4 - If the song list is good.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 - doesn't really look good but maybe
Need for Speed - If good
COD: BO3 - Buy them and play for a week, but I'm over the futuristic stuff
Just Cause 3 and Hitman - If there's time
Mad Max - No time since it will be released same day as MGS5

No need to mention 2016+ stuff

This year is way too jam packed but I expect more than a few of these to be delayed.

    • F4 PC version is a must. But they teased it so early and so often that the impact has worn out a bit.

I'm the worst. The games I like I like a lot and must have. But otherwise 90% of the stuff out there leaves me cold.

The Sony killer trio of TLG, FFVII-R and Shenmue 3 is interesting but the sun could supernova before they appear.

    • So many games to buy this and next year.

  • The Vita is dead. Non-existent. Barely acknowledged. I'm sad.

    • I wonder if they'll even bother with another portable system.

      • Likely not, but with Tablet gaming turning into the future (the future is bleak ;_;), I don't even think Nintendo would be brave enough to make another handheld. They WILL, but they should probably reassess the industry. Maybe Sony will focus on getting more games to the PS4 (which was obviously their focus this year.)

        • I think they will (Nintendo that is), but hopefully the next handheld is a substantial upgrade (N3DS is only a partial upgrade for the most part). As for Sony…I think they might drop handhelds altogether. The only region where the PSVita is doing well is Japan.

  • This year's E3 made me want to get a PS4, although a lot of the games announced aren't coming for quite awhile.

    • Most the stuff they announced doesn't release til 2016 (Horizon, Uncharted, Dreams, etc.). I was also incredibly uncomfortable when they started using the six-axis for Dreams. That's still around? It's still a thing? People use it!?

Although, I was surprised No Man's Sky is coming to PC. And much less surprised that almost every Microsoft game they showed was coming to PC. No reason to get an Xbone then!

      • It seems to be the PC is the true winner.

Looks like it seems to be that since there's no agenda to pushing the PC its a 'backup plan' to get revenue.

        May as well…

        • It's also worth noting that those 'Xbone exclusive' games they were porting to PC, they were calling it "Available on Xbone and Windows 10." So they'll likely be unavailable on Mac and Linux, and they'll be store-purchased games. Not sure about the DRM state on games from the Windows store.

Rareware might actually have a good Microsoft game coming out! Highly likely they don't! But Sea of Thieves looked okay for those 30 seconds of Alpha build footage.

        • Hmmm that may be an agenda to push Windows 10 and their App store and DX12.

Not sure how painful they would make it. Will people stuck on Windows 7 and older DX10 hardware not be able to install and play MS IP like Gears of War? Killer Instinct?

        • @tonyjzx:

It's what they did for Halo 2 to try and get people to move to Windows Vista.

  • +1

It's pretty clear that the Wii U is already in wind-down phase and Nintendo's focus is on a better launch for the NX. Starfox looked very disappointing and the Animal Crossing game made Mario Party look like a masterpiece in comparison.

Fortunately there's still a few good games left in the pipeline, but I suspect there's unlikely to be many big games announced from here and anything that does come will have a sizeable amiibo component attached.
