Jailbreak a fat PS3

Probs should ask this on a more specialised forum but regarding jailbreak for ps3, can I do it to ANY fat ps3 regardless of its firmware?

Load times and noisy seeking are driving me nuts…

No,
You can upgrade directly to custom firmware if you are on or below version 3.55
I was lucky enough when I bought my ps3 off eBay it was still on 3.55

You will need a flasher to downgrade it, such as the E3 Flasher
Not all PS3's are compatible with the flasher so make sure your model is

  You will only need the flasher if your PS3 is above 3.55 firmware.
  The flasher will downgrade your PS3 to 3.55 so you can install custom firmware.
