Wooden Entertainment Units

My wife & I decided to update all of our furniture meaning we need to get rid of our old wooden furniture. The first to go are our two wooden entertainment units in good condition. I rang Vinnie's & the Salvo's to see whether I could donate them but was politely told no. Apparently people who frequent their stores or require donated furniture prefer the modern low level entertainment units for their big screen TV's. Things have certainly changed when people weren't so fussy 10 years or so ago.

Next up was to advertise them as 'free' on gumtree. Other than the one usual 'is it still available?' email that isn't obviously interested, the page had 117 visits & no queries.

My next step will be to break them up & put the remains out for a council pick up.

Anyone else had this happen?

  • it is a funny old world, since those units used to be the bees knees! now since they don't fit flat screen TVs (even the 'poor' are too fussy)…

But i know exactly what you mean - i have had some weird instances of being almost unable to get rid of things on gumtree. Even really good things, like furniture

Don't even get me started on the Salvos - they are the biggest ripoff merchants in the world. They have gone from trying to help the poor, to trying to sell vintage clothing and teacups. Its complete BS

perhaps try ebay at 0.01c? You would probably get rid of it for that price
